MSI Dragon Ball vs. Dragon Power -- Latest Version?

Hi.. I'm looking for a simple utility that will display memory timings. I've been using ASRock Timing Configuration, and either the 0x129 bios (or a recent Win11 update) broke it. I'm familiar with MemTweakIt, but trying to find a legit link to download it is another story. I know HWInfo64 can display timings via its Memory/Summary, but I'm looking for an easy one-click utility, like ATC.

Then... I stumbled upon Alan's 2022 forum post where he linked both Dragon Ball and Dragon Power utilities.

My questions are:
- Which program do I need?
- Are these the most recent versions?

I'm on a Z690 Edge WiFi DDR4 with 0x129. Thank you.

Yes, those should be the latest ones to show all the timings, and the correct ones. You need MSI Dragon Ball to see all the RAM timings in Windows.

Hi Citay! Can we please get the new dragon ball and dragon power that were updated since the z890 release....I think dragon ball is 1.0.0.15 and not sure on the newer # for power...but I saw some screen shots but doesnt seem the MSI tools share has been updated. Thanks!

Yes, and also a version that work for X870 would be nice. I am not sure there is one for AM5 DDR5 platforms. The Intel versions I found do not seem compatible.

Hey Mr Fox! ;) This link to the utility drive has the updated version that says is support AMD...but its viewing only/no real-time tuning (which is what I only ever use it for anyways)...I think your the same and only update memory setting via the BIOS. However, the newer version has two issues I can see right away:

https://sites.google.com/view/msi-bios-update/menu/motherboard

1. it doesn't seem to support Z790 boards or older
-the timings tab doesn't even show all the other timings (only verified screenshot I have seen that supports the other timings is a Z890 UnifyX)
-there are 2 timings tabs and the 1st one is complete for older gen mobos...although it shouldnt be because the timings are still for ddr4/5 and I dont have a second timings TAB at all
-I still have the RTL screen and that doesn't show on the Unifyx screen I saw (maybe this is the 2nd timings tab)

2. there is a scaling issue with the program it self
-4k isn't supported and the columns are all cutoff...it looks terrible
-only %100 works scaling works...which I assume works fine for HD or 1440p users....but I bought a $1500 MSI 321URX OLED monitor...and dangit, I just want my Dragon Ball timings program to work. LOL

No one else has even installed it or shown their display...to see if its working...I guess like no one is using it...but its my favourite...I like the format better than ASRock timing config or ASUSs.

Let me know how you make out.

I don't remember it showing the tertiary timings, see here for an old screenshot. Here are the last two versions i have, exactly the same:

MSI 2.png

And yes, it's not DPI-aware, so whenever there is scaling in Windows (i use 125% on my 32" WQHD), it will mess up the layout.
I already set compatibility options for it (scaling performed by application).

Hmm, ya thanks for confirming - some of the tert timings as you can see from my screen shot above are definately in it now but....only for z890? would be nice for them to add those for everyone. What steps do you use for compatibility options...I tried a couple things and it didnt work.

Its definately a z890 thing they didnt add for us....see screen shot here:

Just "Scaling performed by application", which can often help with other programs, but for this one it doesn't seem to make a difference. They need to put in extra work in the source code to make it DPI-aware and scale its UI accordingly.

Thanks, I had to be a little more elaborate with mine...took me like 30 minutes to figure it out...for the scaling to work correctly.

Citay, look at the second screenshot I posted above, the whole advanced timing section has a lot more of the tert timings that dont show for us - even though they exist for Z790 and earlier. It would be a nice update to have...along with the 2nd timings tab...whatever is in there.

700s and 800s don't even use the same CPU, made sense that they don't display same oc options
They are not OC options, they are memory timings that apply to both as mentioned above and you would know if you checked your BIOS or did memory OC. They apply for DDR4 and DDR5 (although not all of them but almost all do). For example, TRFCpb is a DDR5 timing but shows for both types of boards including D4 boards. It would be different if it was truly CPU or chipset limited but its not. ASUS timing config does, but I like Dragon Ball way more for a lot of reasons. And were MSI people here...so.

Some features are definitely limited by chipset or CPU but thats for other types of data monitoring and for HWINFO64 for example...not related to this.
