Hi! My warmest yuletide greetings to everyone!  :D

I recently bought this board and i am having problems with my back port audio (green circle).. When i connect my speakers and play some of my sounds, there is only static, or at other times nothing at all. But when I tried plugging my speakers in the front port, there's sound.

These are things that I've done atm:

1. reinstalled audio drivers twice, once from the included CD and the one is from the Eclipse Driver download section here. i dont know if both are the same version or not.

2. re-inserted the X-Fi card several times, changed its position from topmost PCI-E x1 slot to the other x1 slot.

3. installed SP3..

any ideas people?

Hi! And a "Happy Yule" to you too! Are you running 2.1 desktop stereo speakers or 5.1, 7.1 surround sound?

you shouldn't need media source installed.. just the base drivers... do you have the little icon in the tray that lets you configure your speaker setup and enable the crystalizer and stuff?  that's all you should need... I am not sure about the patch also, I used the CD on my vista64 install and everything worked fine after installing just from the cd.

sounds kind of like there's a bad port on the extreme audio card..  that's just a guess.. because you do get sound from the other ports, but not the green one..   BTW, you can run this card on any of the pci-e slots, I am running mine in the last 16x slot on the mobo and it works fine.. so if you want to test other slots you can, but I am going to guess it's an issue with the card itself.   Anyways, best of luck with that.

edit:  I guess trying that patch might be worth a try though.

aha!

thanks all! all is good now after applying the patch above. it just overwrited some stuff in windows folder, restarted and, lo and behold! its working!  :agrees:

thanks and merry christmas to all!  :D
