I use a VPN most of the time for privacy reasons. It's generally good practice. However, when I try to log on to the msi forums, I get a message saying "Oops, this IP address has been banned.' When I stop the VPN, I have no trouble logging in, as I've done to post this message.
What's going on? Why is msi hostile to VPNs? This can't possibly be a security issue as I log on to much more sensitive sites, such as my banking sites, though my VPN. So what's going on? Does msi really need to know what my native IP address is in order for me to participate in these forums?

We ban majority of VPN IPs due to spam and scam coming from them, as simple as that.

That's too bad. I understand the problem that you're referring to. However, VPNs help us users guard our privacy and keep our ISPs from knowing what sites we are visiting. It seems kind of retro in that banks and other sensitive sites allow access through VPNs. They seem to have figured out how to allow access through VPNs safely. Can't whoever runs this forum come up with something, perhaps a cookie, that would allow one, once a person has signed up through normal channels, to access this forum through a VPN? If I have to shut down my VPN every time I want to brows this forum, it will make it much less attractive to me.

Google is now taking steps towards more privacy and cookies are also being tossed aside extensively

Changes are ongoing and I suggest reading as much as possible in the issues
