MSI G271CQP Monitor Will Not Wake

I recently purchased a new 27' MSI G271CQP Monitor, and it's lovely, except that it refused to wake. When it goes to sleep it my laptop (An Omen 15, rather recent) cannot convince it to wake up. The monitor appears to be disconnected as well, even though it is not. It is connected via HDMI (a cable that is known to support 4k). The HDMI cable in question worked with a Samsung display that had a refresh rate up to 240 Hz, and that worked just fine.

I have already submitted a support request to MSI, but I wonder if anyone else here is having the same issue.

can you try if setting Power Button\Standby makes a difference? setting it to standby will turn off the monitor's backlight instead of powering it off completely, so the monitor should receive the video signal from your laptop.

I would, but the strange thing was that after I got a reply from MSI Support the monitor just started working normally. I wasn't thrilled at how it kept effectively removing itself and having to be re-detected from scratch, but I could have lived with that. Unfortunately, the next thing it did was have a handful of pixels fail (over 10) in a neat little right corner square over an inch long. I decided to swap it for another brand. Ultimately the responsiveness of the SOC was not impressive.
