Good day,

I have encountered an issue, made more confusing as i was playing a MMO when it occurred. :confused2: MSI GAMING 970

Network drivers are missing:

"Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver"

so I try to reinstall them. then I get the error message :
"The realtek network controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug The Cable"

The case has not been opened, the computer was on and running a game at the time of the fault.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Can you still use internet normally? Where is the driver from, CD or msi website? What does device manager show?

I did give all relevant information as the issue is with the integrated network interface.

Device manager shows nothing, drivers won't re-install because it can't see the device. Drivers are from CD. I can get (very) limited access to the internet with a wireless card but it's intermittently at best.

Read the post.

What CPU? What power supply? What memory?
Without proper information we are going to spend many posts trying to figure out what the problem is. Instead of arguing it, just provide the information from the >>Posting Guide<< and we can more easily and better diagnose the problem.

looks like the Ethernet card is dead, and you have to RMA the board

of course you can try remaining troubleshooting before do this like:
* >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed
* Check that Onboard LAN is Enabled in BIOS Setup
* Try reinstall network drivers within OS
* Take out mainboard out of PC case and retest

But reading here i don't have much hope:

Clear CMOS: tried, unsuccessful
Lan Enabled in bios Setup: yes
Reinstall network drivers: it won't let me, device not detected
take mainboard out pc case and retest: no change.

I'm out of ideas, RMA it is then.

Yeah, that really sounds like the best bet.
