Hi, just bought new RTX 3080 ti gaming x trio and realize that it has a very high temps while gaming up to 82c in 2 mins playing, meanwhile fans spinning only at 55-60 %, is this normal or need to wait new vbios update?

GPU temperature can easily go up to 80 to 90 degree when gaming, it only depends on the airflow inside the chassis. If you want the fan to spin faster, you can customize the fan curve with MSI Afterburner. I'll say it's pretty normal but do you experience any performance drop when playing games?

My previous RTX 3080 Gigabyte Gaming OC working at 68-69c in the same case and same case fans prm, also
gpu fan speeds were noticeably higher. I looked another manufacturers ( and Founders Edition) 3080ti tests and benchmarks and all of them cooler than my Gaming x trio. The problem not with my case or airflow. I think that vbios on this card are raw and fan curve is incorrect. Sorry for my bad eng.

I know that i can use afterburner, but i dont want to start afterburner every time i want to play.

in my opinion, you best solution now is afterburner.
The other solution is replacing the thermal pad by yourself with a better one but that might void the warranty.
not sure if 3080TI GAMING X TRIO is going to receive a "Low Temperature" VBIOS like 3080 Gaming X Trio, you can also ask MSI to get the answer.

Thanks, but the thermal pads only cool the memory and vrm zone. They do not cool the graphics chip itself. Did the 3080 trio have a similar problem? Was it solved by updating the BIOS?

I have the same card and temps are roughly the same as yours. Although my memory temp seems a bit high though?

Edit: I took a pic of it running at 75%, and full fan speed while playing a game for 30 minutes each.

Up to 75% I would consider tolerable for noise levels.

Replacing the thermal paste on the gpu can help. The Gaming X Trio features a good cooling solution that should stay in the 70s under load but can of course spike to 80s in some situations. As it is a huge card with three fans filling your case with hot air it may male sense to also check your case airflow. Smaller midi cases usually heat up quite much as well.

Yes, this card realy hot, idk if MSI release low temp bios, but even at 75% fan speed temps are higher than others 3080 ti's.
P.S
Yes, perhaps replacing the thermal paste will improve the situation, but I don't want to disassemble the card and lose the warranty

Well, other 3080tis much depends on the individual card. Reviews on the web are usually done on open test stands that can't be compared to results in a system.

From your screenshot you got 96C at Auto fans, what is the max. mem temp reached, can you check it? [select the highest recorded one]
Do you have any throttling or crashing issues?

I tested it again since I didn't get the spikes last time. Highest I've seen was 102C with HWMon. On GPU-Z you can see the graph that has a lot of spikes, and it was hitting 100C, then throttling back until it dropped to 96-98C.

Also my room temp was about 25C during all these tests.

Today I tried to run doom eternal to 100% (3200 rpm) fan speed in open case and the card heats up to 72c, is this really normal?
It starts to seem to me that the problem with overheating is not only due to an incorrect BIOS ...

check GPU-Z
ADVANCED/INFO
- here temperatures point
RTX is most time 87C slowdown

heat is normal for usage ?? try MSI KOMBUSTOR "furmark" - get overheat ??
best is OSD "real time info for temperatures" find point before temperatures stop raising // fan speed " it is best when there is a reserve and temperatures under 87C"
?

fan control - maybe a new afterburner "beta"
try custom faster fan curve - under 87C ? "raise 2-3 last points "

fan control --create custom better fan curve

msi kombustor 4.1.7 - works fully "older"
Bez názvu.png
example ,.,,.full screen + OSD enabled "furmark GL or VK"
30min test is OK -example

best + HWINFO SENSOR in background

For the 3080ti, the temperature limit is 83c. I downloaded kombuster, and during a stress test I see that the temperature at the stock settings reaches 83c and starts throttling, when the maximum temperature is reached, the coolers start to work faster, but in fact I see a situation that the cooling system at the factory settings can barely cope with cooling, leaving 1 degree margin before throttling starts. This is the first time I've encountered such a situation and I can't believe that such a beefy cooling cannot cope with this card even at fan speeds above 70%.

This is Kombuster test:

new vbios ,,.or AFTERBURNER + custom fan curve --faster end !

edit ,.,.still you not have THERMAL SIGNAL in this video ,.,.,.only POWER - power limit
more heat --faster/more power limit

83C is limit ??? the card should start spinning at full speed
try manual repair "SW" or need help ??? "teamviever"

No, at maximum speed (3200rpm) the card heats up to 74-75 degrees (and it is much hotter than other 3080ti from other manufacturers, even the founders edition at lower fan speeds), but it is not possible to use the system with such noise. It's almost like the sound of a turbine taking off from an airplane
