Hello,
The laptop is working great when in Discrete mode. Excellent performance. No overheating.
The moment I change to hybrid mode is when it will start to randomly freeze within 10 to 20 min after on.
Sometimes it may take an hour. Most of the time no error massages, mouse and keyboard unresponsive.
Buzzing sound if I was watching video and it will shut off in 2min if I don`t press and hold power button.
Yet occasionally blue screen of death showing: VIDEO DXKRNL FATAL ERROR. Here is the minidump read:

From the bscr dump file it looks lake the nvidia driver is tripping after all. But way it is not when in discrete mode!? Also noted laptop is continuously switching GPUs aka power button turns from white to amber and so. Is my so called MUX is bad? I have installed the latest bios, drivers ect. Factory reset also not helped. I've suspected a bad intel gpu at first but it pass every test run on it. Also run a furmark on the nvidia no errors blue screens.

Does the problem occur while running specific programs?
If the problem only occurs while using MSHybrid mode, the problem may be related to the intel driver.
Try to reinstall the Intel and Nvidia Graphics drivers from MSI website with DDU tool first.

The problem does not seems to be related to any program. It happens even on idle.
I`ve tried reinstalling the drivers from MSI as mentioned above and even a clean windows install didn`t help.

Hi Crazydonkey,
Thank you for you reply. I`ve already tried factory reset from msi center. Complete format and HDD image restore option. But the problem returns.
I might just stick to the discrete mode for now where its working without any problem. I mean what`s the gain from hybrid mode? Was it more battery live only?

MShybrid mode is mostly for battery life. if you always use your laptop with AC adaptor, I think you can stay in discrete mode.

Just wanted to add an update on my issue. So the freezing and unexpected shut down will get me even in discrete graphic mod but only if I let my screen to turn off do to an inactivity.
Solution = Power plan settings - Turn off the display = NEVER. Funny ha? Obviously this laptop will be send for some testing/repairs.

Have you upgraded memory before?
Sometimes an incompatible memory may cause a freezing issue.
Besides you can also check if the problem still remains while using an external monitor to confirm if there is a hardware defect or not.

No I have the stock memory Samsung 2x16GB. The only think I`ve upgraded is adding a second SSD. As for external monitor test when external monitor is involved the nvidia graphic card is always on. Probably the HDMI port is connected directly to the discrete gpu. The freezing/shut down occurs only when nvidia is off and the intel gpu is in use. In fact I can just start a game and the laptop will run as long as the nvidia gpu is on. The moment the power button turns from amber to white which indicates that the nvidia went off and intel is in use is when the ticking bomb starts. Definitely a hardware problem IMO.

Here is another update:
Apparently disabling the CPU C States option in the BIOS settings menu will stop the random freezing. However as far as I can understand this is not a solution but a workaround and indicates some problems with the CPU or power managements.
Way is this problem not present when using discrete graphic mode is a mystery to me.

The problem should be on the CPU/ Integrated graphics. I suggest you contact MSI to replace the mainboard.

All though before condemn that "fancy" new powerful 11gen core i7 it`s worth mention that running a small program called TrayPwrD3 would also prevent freezing and makes system totally stable. During this state the laptop will happily use Integrated graphics as seen in display settings and task manager and the dGPU is staying on and idle if needed. As for what this program do is basically keeps you dGPU on.

I have i7-11800h in my gp76. I have no problems with freezing system when i use mshybrid mode. I am using latest graphics drivers from Intel website for iGPU and from nvidia for dGPU.

I think I will be in the same situation as described above. Those are nearly impossible to troubleshoot so they will probably just want to replace the motherboard. Mine was doing this from day one so faulty out of the box. Where did the QA test went anyway? This could take up to a month so I decided to keep it for the holidays. Will send it next week. Also I want to mention that disabling the CPU C States did not sopped the freezing.

Good luck! I will keep you updated about my reparation. Hope to get it soon and without further problems. But I'm not very confident reading about the problems related with this msi laptops.
