hey guys
im new to these forums and msi. i just recently purchased an msi gf4 ti4400 - vtd. everything was fine with it a and i played gta3 and ran 3dmark 2001 se all day without a hitch. then i was looking around in my display properties and noticed that my card was in (PCI mode) so i went out and got the newest via 4 in 1s (4.40 a) so i installed them and then i went to my display properties again and for bus type i said AGP. so i thought problem solved and i also downloaded the detonator 29.42's. so then i went to play somemore gta 3 and about 5 mins into the game i had a freeze up and the sound would loop. freezing occurs in all games like 3dmark nolf and various others. ctrl-alt-del did not work and i had to manually restart. i haved updated by bios, the 4 in1's, detonator drivers, sound card drivers, and just about everything else. i have messed with agp aperature, and switched between agp 1x 2x and 4x. reseated my card. i have switched my ram around to different slots (currently i have a stick in slot 1 and 3.) nothing seems to fix the problem. i am running off a recent clean install of win98 se. everything else works properly like internat, word, aim. only the games cause problems. any help would be greatly appreciated.
here are my specs:
its a gateway
MSI MS-6330 mobo
Sb Live! Value
MSI GF4 ti4400 - vtd
No Name 250 Watt PSU
AMD 950 Thunderbird
stick of 128 mb pc 133 slot 1
stick of 256 mb pc 133 slot 3
20 GB Western dig HD
30 GB Western dig HD
12x Pioneer DVD-rom
8x CD-rw
17" Mitsu. Diamondtron
LAN Card
1.44 Floppy drive
3.com 56k modem
i have noticed that if i place a fan close to my case while it is open i can play games for a bit long. so i think maybe my psu is too small and my components are working to hard to draw power and are becoming overheated. that is just an idea. anyones help or input would be greatly appreciated.
thankz alot
