Hey everybody :)

I have issues with the keyboard.
several keys not work properly, but they work properly when i holding the shift.
or if i type very fast.

When i connect a new key bord everything fine. (regular USB keyboard)

So, i was suspicious about the firearm after that:

is didn't work.
I continue and reinstall the keyboard driver from the Windows management panel.
still, nothing works properly for couples of keys, sometimes everything works fine, sometimes not :(
especially the "backspace key", but the wired thing is when i hold the shift the backspace work amazing!
so the key is not damaged, is a software issue may be a typing issue. (key shortcut activate when I type? new MSI driver?)

any suggestions guys?

I think you can check if the keyboard function working normally or not in the BIOS. (Laptop reboot and keep pressing [DEL]-> go to the "Security" tab and select "User Password")
If the keyboard function still has the same problem in the BIOS, it could be a hardware issue.

looks like the solution for this problem has not been found. well, this problem has been discussed a long ago. what make this unique is that the users who got this problem have the same exact unresponsive buttons (C, R, F, 9, 0, backspace, delete). users have done several ways to fix this issue like reinstalling the window, upgrading the bios, even replacing the keyboard. unfortunately, it all didn't work. i had mentioned that the steelseries engine is cause of this problem but apparently, i was wrong. a user told us that the keyboard cable was actually not installed properly whether it was factory defect or user error (probably when the laptop being repaired). looks like the only way to fix this is you need to tell the service center about the keyboard in specific. and yes i had my keyboard replaced like two years ago but the problem is still around to this day.

This is a driver problem.
I sure have a solution but yes, you right this exactly the keys do a problem.
they need to release a driver for that.

I don't think is a big problem
LIKE BIOS OR DAMAGED KEYBORD.
I said that because if you hold the shift these keys work...

I believe is an update of windows conflict with old keyboard software.
this not something MSI cant fix i sure about that.
The company can be exposed to lawsuits is not a joke.

if a manager or someone will not answer, i will try to go to one of the stores in Spain but i sure is a Driver/softwere problem.
not need to replace anything, the keys work if you hold the shift.

is mean the key, not damage.
is a Special setting make it happened or an uncompiled driver.
and i 90% think is a driver.

I didn't say i fix it, i said it must be fixed via MSI.
i sure is a driver.
not make sense to me the keyboard work with these keys when you hold the shift.

when you put external keyboard everything work fine ( is mean, is not windows software or update )
MSI cant does it, have a big chance they do it in propose to create situation people all the time will need to buy a new computer.
they expose to a lawsuit and much more.

this issue must be fixed is a joke. MSI NEED TO REALES A DRIVER FOR THE KEYBOARD!

Have you guys tried to update EC firmware to the latest version on the MSI website?
Step.1 Update EC firmware to the latest version of the MSI website.
Step.2 Uninstall keyboard driver in device manager, the path: device manager -> keyboards -> standard PS/2 keyboard.

I Will buy external keyboard today and try updating the EC today. As the delete Key does not work.
But asked as have read some have tried that, and also reloplased keyboard out it have helped. And also seems the problem have many types of issues as some IT works by pressing shift or Ctrl.
But thank you for your reply.
And for the rest got answer from MSI Support in UK, and they wanted me to send the laptop to their service center. If that Will be nessesary Will do that after New Year.

Have today flashed EC to version 112 and updated Bios to 324 out any changes with the Keys that do not work.
Also installed Dragon center before flashing EC as written in EC flashing instruction.

Any other idea?????

I think you could try MSI F3 recovery to reinstall the Windows OS.
If the problem still persists, it should be a hardware issue.

i try the firearm is bullshit, it actually makes it worse.
every time i try to install or do something i start to lose the shift as well...
is a driver issue together with responses of the keys.
windows aware to that and because of that, he creates the sticky key.
have option edit the respond but still.

These specific keys do not get a respond. is because these keys help short cuts of MSI conflict with windows.
is a stopped driver MSI can pull out and adjust the keyboard shortcut.

This doesn't make sense more than 100 people over the world have a problem with the same keys and the same computer model?
no.. is because MSI creates his own keyboard and has very old software with stopped configuration that needs to adjust to 2020!!!!!

is a joke this company, i will never buy MSI again.
very big disappointing and i sure is not only me.

is not that because the external keyboard work perfect.
is means the windows driver is perfect.

AGAIN IS MSI DRIVER!
MSI NEVER PULL OUT DRIVER FOR THE KEYBORD AND WHAT THEY OFFER IN THEIR WEBSITE IS BEFORE COUPLE OF YEARS.
IF YOU WORK FOR MSI I WAS RECOMMENDED YOU TELL THEM STOP SMUSH IT AND PULL OUT DRIVER FIX IT.

I TRY EVERYTHING.
I KNOW MICROSOFT AND SERVER CMD (LINUX)
I WAS AWARE IF WINDOWS WAS DO THE PROBLEM.
IS NOT WINDOWS, THIS MSI + STEELSERIES.

THESE COMPUTERS HAVE A BAD NAME ALREADY, IF YOU GO TO YOUTUBE YOU WILL SEE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM
THROW THE COMPUTER FROM THE WINDOW.

MSI IS BIG COMPANY, BUT VW WAS BIGGEST, AND THEY DID A SIMILAR MISTAKE AND GOT LAWSUIT...
MSI WILL FIX IT, IF NOT HE WILL FIND HIMSELF GET LAWSUITS FROM PEOPLE HAVE MONEY.

The problem is not with 1 or 2 or 3 guys.
we speak about thousands of people!!!!
look at the links i send, look on youtube this is a joke brother....

if you will see this company on the TV bring money back to the customers, because of that don't be surprised...
is remind me VW (Volkswagen) sell cars without good transmission,
they bring the money to all the costumers...

is the same, is a lot of people buy this stoped computers in 1000 - 2000 dollars....
they will pay on it, is not individuals... is thousand of people guys! is not something you can fix when i think about that.

I understand this problem has troubled you for a long time.
Because I don’t have this laptop, I just want to help you solve this problem based on past experience.
Have you ever contacted MSI technical support?

Maybe it is a pre-install system issue?
If you don’t care about the pre-installed system, I suggest you can reinstall the operating system via the Windows media creation tool.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10.
That's a pure OS.
You have to install drivers and utilities by yourself.
Hi and Merry Christmas
I have now reinstalled Windows 10 pro on the laptop from scratch and update also Bios to 324 and EC to 112.
Also installer all drivers and utils on Msi website for GL62M 7RD. But still No change on the Keys that still do not work.

SO i do not know what IT is. As Msi support in UK Said, they wanted me to send the laptop to their service center. But i live in Norway. Msi Sweden is closer, but the do not answer their Phone.

If Msi wants me to send the laptop inn, instead of sending me link to software to fix this, and insists i ship laptop to their service center i Wonder if IT is an software issue.

By the way, i discoverd somsing in Bios. Not sure, but i have 1x 256GB m.2 ssd disk, and have not yet installed 2.5 hdd on the laptop.
Under harddisk info in Bios the 256GB m.2 ssd disk was under the list of sata disk, not Pci ssd disks. Not SO good with Bios as usually that fixes IT self.
