SATA and mSATA use the same protocol, just different connectors. Then, mSATA and NVMe may use same/similar slot (dual) but different speed and protocol. Sort of mess..

looks like the solution for this problem has not been found. well, this problem has been discussed a long ago. what make this unique is that the users who got this problem have the same exact unresponsive buttons (C, R, F, 9, 0, backspace, delete). users have done several ways to fix this issue like reinstalling the window, upgrading the bios, even replacing the keyboard. unfortunately, it all didn't work. i had mentioned that the steelseries engine is cause of this problem but apparently, i was wrong. a user told us that the keyboard cable was actually not installed properly whether it was factory defect or user error (probably when the laptop being repaired). looks like the only way to fix this is you need to tell the service center about the keyboard in specific. and yes i had my keyboard replaced like two years ago but the problem is still around to this day.
It is absolutely ridiculous that they changed and you still have problems. It's ridiculous that we still seeing these happening for years and apparently there is no official response from MSI. I have the same problem, same keys. Very, vey disappointed with MSI.

Me too....
I will not buy MSI anymore, this not chip for nothing.
These computers sell so cheap and have a reason for that.
(In General, This expensive computer don't take me wrong, but the component/hardware you get with the computer is cheap...

Next time ASUS...

I'm with you about not buying and about being some sort of software problem. I'm not a bill gates like most of the guys here, but when I go to keyboard on the control panel, keyboard properties, there is a box "Click here to test repeat rate", none of the keys fail me. Ever! So it doesn't look like hardware problem. I messaged steelseries. I think MSI are dragging their name to the mud, so hopefully they can fight for us, because all MSI say is that is an old model, bla bla bla.
Sent to steelseries:
"There is people all over the internet complaining about this for years. Nobody seems to have a solution, including MSI. It seems like a faulty model. They should have taken all the laptops back. At least would keep a good name. Honestly, vey poor form. I doubt anyone with this problem will ever buy MSI again. Including me. However you have to understand that the computer works just fine apart from the keyboard. You say you can't do nothing but in the end of the day, this keyboard has your brand name on it. So think with me... do you think I can trust on buying something that says Steelseries again? I really believe that this is a software problem, but if MSI can't confirm anything, how can I be sure? If it is not your problem you as an independent band should clarify this with MSI. You can be losing costumers for nothing.

I would like you to pass this email forward to a supervisor o team leader and register my complaint."

Test the keys in BIOS (the password area).
If the keys not working in BIOS (without pressing fn), it means more related to hardware and you should send it to the official service center for a check.

Ok team. So I have been having very similar issues to all of you. My CFR890 backspace and DEL keys would not work. I could not get into the BIOS as the DEL key wouldn't work even at the boot screen. One issue is that the cable from the Keyboard to the Mother Board is bent over flat. It is causing a pinch. I attempted all of the updates, but If I pulled it apart and reseated the cable I was able to get it to work for now. This is definitely a design flaw. I don't know if a longer cable would solve the problem, but I intend on replacing the keyboard and cable at the first opportunity.

THIS ISIUE MUST BE FIX:

All these people this insane.
this MSI forum, where is all the managers?
The keyboard usage rate is high. It is also an easy-to-reach keycap. So everyone's questions are similar. I’m curious, doesn’t MSI provide a replacement for the original keyboard?

I have exactly the same issue I HAVE (MSI GL62M 7RDX) Keys not working (r,f,c,0,9,8,del,backspace) as they say i have to hold another key to make them work or hammer them am so disappointed with the msi and i will never buy any product from this company

I tried to fix the keyboard like clean the cables and plug them back the problem was gone like for 2 weeks and came back again i am sure its a software error because a person told me with the same pc he replaced his keyboard tho the problem still exists
