Same problem happens to me, first the green LED disappears only from " - " key
, then "F2" and "F7", after I deleted all keyboard devices and drivers and reinstalled Steel series engine - "F2" key green LED goes back to normal - now only 2 keys remains without green LED. This happens few month after purchase and I am very disappointed with MSI laptop. I hope this is not hardware problem because it is quite common and only green LED gives headache to everyone and in my case one key is back to normal after almost year it was not working, so I am waiting for solution from MSI maybe some patch or new recommendation.
You Clearly don't understand the situation - this is not a software related nor a BIOS update problem - this is purely a POOR choice on supplier side.
What is bother's me - why is MSI not coming out and say - THE STEELSERIERS Keyboard has faults and that they not going to use the supplier anymore in till they fixed their product.
If the problem was on one MODEL - example - the ALPHA 15 i would have understand the problem, but doing my homework - i saw on a YOUTUBE video were people complaining about the same problem and each have a different MODEL - which mean MSI know about the flaw for a long time, last reply a saw was 2019.
from 2019 - its started with 1 key with dead green. Now half of the keys blues and greens are dead. Reds on all keys are working as before.
I have a MSI Alpha 15 - doing the same problem - i will post a photo showing one button (Right Arrow) is completely dead, you also can see there are 2 other key starting to fade to purple due to the green light LED is failing. Numpad nr 9 is starting to fade to purple showing the green is busy failing, same nearby the normal Enter key.
Why do MSI still do business with companies like STEELSERIES over how many MODEL and choose to ignore the problem, when it is a big problem. I have to sent my laptop away for repair's also knowing this will keep on happening the different key's and still smile while paying off a 2000 USD laptop.
So please do your homework before posting BS like:
I suggest you update the EC and SSE.
Step.1 Update EC
Step.2 Uninstall keyboard driver in device manager, the path is: device manager -> keyboards -> standard PS/2 keyboard.
Step.3 Uninstall SteelSeries Engine (SSE) and reinstall SSE
Follow this instruction to clean install SSE https://www.msi.com/faq/notebook-2472
That doesn't help anyone, just giving people false hope.
I had the same problem before 8 months, it started with green LED failure from one key, and developed to 5 keys within 2 months. So, i got iritated and got my keyboard replaced from msi rma service center. It has been 6 months, since i replaced my keyboard, and again a green led failed for "pageup" key. What do i do now, Its, the second time of LED failure.
