I tried removing my heatsink to put fresh thermal paste but unfortunately it did not want to come off. perhaps it's stuck on or something but I didn't want to force it as I was scared to break something.

to remove it as you will have Dried on Thermal Paste so wiggle it a bit to crack it away and pull it genteelly but firmly up

thanks for the advice, do you know if cpu thermal paste would work the same? it looked like there was another pink paste by the heat sink.\

I've been doing some research and found a lot of people talking about Honeywell PTM7950 SP Super Highly Thermally Conductive PCM Pad. They are expensive and a little finicky to deal with.

Personally, I am leaning hard on choosing Gelid-Solutions-GC-Extreme-Compound for my CPU/GPU https://www.amazon.ca/Gelid-Solutions-GC-Extreme-Compound-TC-GC-03/dp/B002P5W4RU?th=1

As for the surrounding VRMs and chips; what are you planning to use on those?
