Hi,
I got the new MSI GS66 Stealth 12UGS (with WIN11 pro) mainly for programming work and it indeed does javascript compilations very fast.
However the battery is terrible. ~ 2 hours
Different "User scenario" modes in MSI center didn't help.
The battery stats shows that 50% was consumed by "Windows Explorer" ?!?!?!

> CPU is constantly aroun 55-60 degrees
> fans run at their 2500RPM (which is ridiculous minimum) they are very noisy even in idle. I overcame it by tweaking "User scenario" so that they stay shut and only periodically kick in.

Is it the windows11 problem? or this laptop can't manage its power and resources?

Thank you for your help.
*I have 1 more day when I can return it. but I'd prefer to have a solution with this laptop not to have to setup again on a another laptop.

You could select Super Battery, if it helps.
Check Task Manager if any programs are using the resources.
If you're running programs on the laptop, it should be no surprise that the CPU will increase in temperatures.
Also, turn off the camera/location/bluetooth etc. if you're not using them.

Hi,
Thank you for your response.
1. There is no super battery option. Where do I select it? in MSI center?
2. I checked task manager. There is nothing consuming the power. It looks like the laptop is just burning the energy into nowhere
3. I run only chrome and VScode. Location and camera are off.
4. I also wanted to try to change 240hz to 60hz when on battery. And it's not possible. It imediately switches back. (Yes I have all drivers up to date).
5. I tried the throtlestop app. It helped. But then the laptop becomes slower than my old 2015 laptop.

I also noticed that it often turns on the discrete GPU without a need. The button becomes orange and it heats.

So far I'm more disapointed than happy with this laptop. Yes it can run heavy tasks and doesn't lag like my old laptop when I don `yarn run dev` or connect 4k monitor. But it unecesarily heats and burns 99.wh battery in 3 hours. That is terrible. Maybe I should have chosen some microsoft surface or the proArt studio.

i had the same problem with the orange light coming on for no reason once and i must have read 1 million posts with no luck until i came across this one post that fixed it somewhat but sometimes it might go orange again and have to reboot was installing the nvidia sound drivers along with the nvidia graphics drivers even if there is no monitor with speakers to use the sound driver with and i have found that its not specific to msi laptops that have the orange light but other brands of laptops too

1. Yes, in MSI Center > System Diagnosis.
Download from Feature Sets if you don't have it.
2. Check in the GPU Activity too. Enable this in NVIDIA Control Panel. Check if you have anything using the GPU unknowingly.

Well, guess you could check for FW updates on MSI.com, then reset the EC.
You could also calibrate the battery in MSI Center.
Select Best for Mobility before running the calibration.

Uninstall in msi center completely .Then turn off antivirus and firewall and wifi Install msi center again, reboot if prompted Turn on antivirus and firewall and wifi And finish the installation of the msi center And with these steps it should be solved, the change from gpu to igpu

one reason could be microsoft edge running in the backround due to startup boost and with harware acceleration on which uses the gpu
