Hey guys,

Its my first post on the forums so hello everyone and thanks in advance for your time.

I bought an MSI GT683 laptop recently with the following specs:
Core i5 2410M
8gb RAM
GF GTX 560M 1,5gb

Now I'm a bit confused about the laptop, because the retail box I picked it up with states the the laptop has "4 memory slots". I happen to have 2x2gb lying around so I figured I could slap them in the laptop since it has 2x4gb in it.

I opened up the back of the laptop and inspected the insides but could only find 2 memory slots both of which held the 8gb of RAM I already had in advance.

I read up some but couldn't find anything worthwhile on the topic, but then I stumbled upon this on the MSI site: "Core i7 models have 4 slots, i5 2 slots".

Is this really the case? If it is the retail box of my laptop is pretty damned misleading :p

Ain't the end of the world but I figured I'd post anyway. Could the RAM slots be located behind the keyboard?

Anyway, thanks in advance - the laptop is otherwise great! :)

That's correct GT683 shows this:

*2nd Generation Intel? Core? i7 Processor supports max 4 SO-DIMMs (8GB x4 slots)
*2nd Generation Intel? Core? i5 Processor supports max 2 SO-DIMMs (8GB x 2 slots

The specification page only shows for the later one with i7 CPU
