Hello,
I am requesting assistance with an issue on my MSI GT77 Titan laptop. The system was working normally and shut down properly the previous night. The next day it would not power on.
Symptoms
Pressing the power button results in a single brief keyboard flash, but no fans, no boot, and no display.
The 330W MSI power adapter LED remains solid when plugged in (does not blink or shut off).
No charging LED or response after that initial keyboard flash.
Troubleshooting Performed
EC Reset (Long Press)
Unplugged power adapter
Held the power button for 60–90 seconds
During this process, the power button LED blinked white around 8 times, then stopped
Reconnected power and attempted to boot — no response
Full Power Drain Reset
Removed all peripherals
Unplugged charger
Held power button for 60 seconds, waited, then repeated a 30-second hold
Reconnected power — still no boot
Bottom Cover Removal
Opened the laptop to access the internal battery
Located the main battery connector
Attempted to disconnect it to perform a full EC/power-rail reset
The connector is extremely tight and difficult to remove, and I stopped to avoid causing damage
Current State
The laptop still does not power on.
Based on symptoms, it appears to be an EC or power-rail latch issue, not a dead motherboard, but I cannot complete the internal battery reset due to the tightness of the connector.
Request
I would appreciate official guidance on:
The correct procedure for disconnecting the GT77 battery safely
Whether the symptoms observed (single keyboard flash + stable charger LED + EC blinking during long hold) indicate a known EC/power-rail issue
Whether a BIOS/EC recovery or service center intervention is required
Any assistance from MSI staff or users with experience on the GT77 Titan would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
