Good day,
I have an MSI GT80S 6QE Titan SLI laptop that has dual nVIDIA 980M's running in SLI.
I'm attempting to run the laptop in a "headless" state with an external 34" ultrawide display (Alienware AW3423DWF running at 3440x1440@60hz). The system runs Linux and works fine once I get to a login prompt but everything before that point (ie. GRUB, Linux boot splash etc) will only output to the internal laptop display.
I've tried using an EDID emulator and modifying GRUB but have reached the conclusion the BIOS is making the choice which display to send to GRUB as the default.
Going into the BIOS (I'm running E1814IMS.113) I can get into the hidden "advanced" features via ALT+RCTRL+SHIFT+F2 and can set the display from Auto to PEG and then change the output from LCD0 to DFP1 or DFP2 but MSI must have hardcoded a trigger that defaults it back to LCD0 even when saving the settings. When I go back into the BIOS it sets itself back to LCD0.
I would like to donate for a custom mod to this BIOS so that I am able to force the output to a specific port and bypass LCD0.
Please let me know what my next steps would be.
