Hi just got my msi gx660 a couple of days ago. Went straight to reinstall a fresh window after received it as the led manager was not working. Now the led manager is working fine but my webcam isn't instead duh. Tried the shortcut keys of Fn+F6 couple of times still nothing. Whenever i used the simple camera or camcorder, it state no camera device. The thing is the cam did worked before i reinstall the window. Now it doesn't. Can't even turn it on. Any bright ideas guys? Appreciate it.

You must still install the System Control Manager (SCM)  . Did you?

Yeah i did. Anyway SCM can't be customize right? Once turn on it will only be seen as an icon in the background program. As the matter in fact i did install and reinstall the scm but makes no difference. But yes it was installed. Further i did a roll back by recovery to existing window but to no avail still no camera detected. It is getting frustrating on how a new laptop can behave in such a way. My previous lappie namely sager np9262 and sony ar590u doesn't have any issues even close to this.  Any MSI technie here?

99% of the time, no.  They come occasionally to read and post even more rarely.  I would open a ticket with MSI.  Maybe I missed it, but was the webcam working before the reinstall?

What OS and SP are we talking about?

Window 7 Home Premium 64 bit of which came with the laptop itself. Any1 else have the same problem?

I have your answer!!  I read this in the forum yesterday.  For the first time use you have to hit the function key (fn) and F6.  This will initiate the Windows driver installing sequence and you'll be good to go.

Wish it is as simple as that but thanks anyway. FYI already tried that countless times. Doesn't work.

Look in the device manager, if it's enabled the device should be listen in there.
If it's not present, hit FN+F6 and wait up to a minute, then check again if the device is listed.

Also, did it ever work?

Did you flash the BIOS somewhere? Done an EC-reset after? Did you flash firmware?

Nope there isn't webcame or imaging device anywhere in the device manager as the webcam itself is disable and i can't seem to find anyway to enable it. Pressed FN+F6 countless times already but to no avail.

It was working normally at stock standard before and after i did reinstall a fresh copy of the same window, it stop working and is totally non responsive. I tried to rolled back by recovery to stock window set up but still nothing from the webcam.

As for the Bios, didn't touch it yet. Anyway tried installing and reinstalling SCM as well but nothing so far seems to be able to even pop up the cam.

Feels like as if the cam itself is no longer there.

FN+F6 is enabling / disabling the cam, if the cam is disabled then it doesn't show in de device list.

Have you tried an EC-reset? :-> https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/how-to-reset-the-ec-embedded-controller

Did you install this version of SCM? :-> http://eu.msi.com/service/download/utility-13760.html

Have you tried this cam app to verify the cam? :-> http://eu.msi.com/service/download/utility-13323.html

If all of that isn't working, then I suggest you run Ubuntu-LiveCD and give the command lsusb and lspci to see it it's anywhere listed.

If it fails there too, then contact MSI for RMA.

Well tried all above and still nothing from the webcam. What a 'well done job' by MSI. No other option left but to RMA, darn it i need a laptop while waiting blast it.

Idk if this is considered a dead topic, but mine has done it after i flashed my bios to 3.0j, and i've tried everything listed above. Im on laptop GT660, and it was working fine before i flashed it. I've re-installed SCM many of times and fn +f6 does not work. I have googled for hours and i have found no fix.

If you have a GT660 (not GT660R) then you flashed the wrong BIOS version anyway:
