it is possible to save the brightness setting in xp instead of always having to hit the function keys everytime i cold boot

i know vista power managment does this just wondering if it possible with xp

You should be able when using SCM.
Else use sleepmode in Windows to shutdown, then it remembers all settings.
But you have to enable it first in Energy management in XP.
