Hi,
I got the MSI H55-ED55, with an i-Core5 cpu, and a LiteOn iHos 104 optical drive. Running Win7 64 bit professional.
All drivers are updated to latest, and got the latest bios update. I use the integrated HD-graphics chipset, IOW no external gfx-card. This is a HTPC, so the "monitor" is a Panasonic 50" Full HD Plasma TV.(th-50pz80e)
This system refuses to play my blue-ray discs, no matter what I do.
I have tried Corel WinDVD, Totalmedia Theatre 5 and Cyberlink PowerDVD, none of them will play my bluray discs. All I can see is the language menu, but choosing a language will cause the player(s) to go into an endless loop and nothing more. After that I have to kill the player software.

The only errormessage I have been able to receive during all this, is when I try to play a bd-disc using Corel WinDVD 10 PRO, which says "Playback with current display driver is not supported. Please update to an appropriate display driver."

I have as mentioned updated all drivers and bios to latest version.

Anyone here with a similar configuration who is able to play and view blue-ray movies? Any ideas what could be wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give me, it will be highly appreciated, as I am totally stuck here.

From what I read at their website, your Lite-On drive is not supported using W7 64 Bit OS; "Supporting DOS 6.xx, Windows XP/ 2003/ Vista and Linux Operating System" Might check to make sure all the software you are trying to use is also W7 compatible.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

I checked www.arcsoft.com for TotalMedia Theatre 5, as this is also a player I have tried that does not work, and it supports Windows 7 64 bit. It says nothing of support/no support of specific optical drives, it only requires "Blue-ray Disc driver for BD playback and HD DVD drivers for HD DVD playback".
So what could it be? How can I determine if the cause of the problens is the Intel iCore 5 HD-grapchis driver, the mainboard driver/bios or the LiteOn optical drive?

Try with Media Player Classic and install the latest video decoders & codecs like CoreAVC for bluray playbacks.

If not, you should try contacting Liteon with regards to this issue as I've understand that some firmwares do cause playback problems.

Installing the Intel MEI driver fixed the problem.
Using Arcsoft Totalmedia Theatre 5 I am now able to play all my blu-ray discs.
Corel WinDVD still doesnt work, but from what I understand, they use a different way of playing dvds/bd.

Thanks for your time and suggestions, I really appreciate it.
