This monitor https://www.msi.com/Monitor/MAG-273QP-QD-OLED-X24/ is advertised as having HDMI 2.1 w/48Gbps bandwidth, which should be able to run the full 1440p 240hz 10-bit color with DSC disabled. However the manual states that it doesn't support this and also in practice I am only able to run 8-bit color at 240hz and 144hz with 10-bit while having DSC disabled.

Why is this the case? Is it a firmware bug/incorrect EDID? or just false advertising stating the full spec HDMI 2.1 is available when it is not. Custom Resolution Utility shows HDMI 2.1 running 6x4 lanes @ 24Gbps instead of 12x4 lanes @ 48Gbps.

Please check it on below link.

Video Timings Calculator

It can not HDMI 2.1 FRL6 (12 GHz/4 lanes) / Max BW 42,667 Mbit/s when 1440p 240hz 10-bit color as attachment-1.

But can be when 1440p "144hz" 10-bit color as attachment-2.

Interesting chart, only the CVT timings show it doesn't work without DSC on HDMI 2.1
But in CRU the CTA-861 Extension block shows the HDMI ports only running 6x4 lanes and 24Gbps, maybe changing some settings will allow full 240hz 1440p 10-bit w/o DSC.
Also doesn't explain why other hdmi 2.1 equipped monitors from MSI and other brands can run it with DSC disabled and this one cannot.

hello, I know its has been a few months, but have you had any luck? particularly with the new firmware that came out in 2026?
