Hi MSI Support and community,

I’m having an HDMI compatibility issue between my MSI MAG 274UPF E2 and a PS5 Slim.

The PS5 displays “No Signal” when connected to the monitor. I have already tested the following:

  • PS5 Slim is working normally.
  • The original HDMI cable supplied with the PS5 works correctly with another monitor.
  • I tested both HDMI ports on the MAG 274UPF E2, with the same result.
  • The PS5 does not produce an image on either HDMI port of the MSI monitor.
  • The same PS5 and HDMI cable work normally when connected to another display.
This makes me suspect an HDMI handshake/EDID or firmware compatibility issue with the MAG 274UPF E2 and PS5.

I have also found other reports of similar PS5/PS5 Slim HDMI issues with MSI monitors, including reports where a firmware update resolved the problem on another MSI model.

I would therefore like to know:

  1. What is the latest firmware version available for the MAG 274UPF E2?
  2. Is there a newer firmware version that is not publicly available on the MSI support/download page?
  3. Is there a firmware that addresses PS5 HDMI handshake or “No Signal” issues?
  4. If an update is available, how can I update the firmware on my MAG 274UPF E2?
  5. If there is currently no firmware fix, is MSI aware of this specific PS5 Slim compatibility issue?
I would really appreciate it if MSI could confirm whether this is a known issue and provide the appropriate firmware/update procedure if one is available.

Thank you.

The problem can be resolved by firmware v012; however, since your monitor does not support firmware update, you will have to request RMA so MSI can update the firmware for you.

I am having the same issue with the same model monitor. Were you able to resolve this remotely or did you have to send your monitor in to a local service center? I am based in the UK and am told that the warranty covers "hardware" issues only; if it is deemed to be a software issue I will be charged. Thanks.

you might be charged half shipping fee but are you saying they require you to pay for the firmware update? that doesn't make sense. :confused2:

It was completely free of cost. They arranged for the pickup and drop (within the same city) and the upgrade was totally free of cost. I would suggest you to insist them on having this fixed. else request for a refund. This monitor was advertised to run seamlessly with consoles. And I see no reason why you'd have to pay for it.
