I have heard that the usb type c port in newer monitors is the upstream usb port. So can i update my msi 321up using its type c port, since it doesn't have a usb B port? Honestly a 2024 expensive monitor not having a way to update its firmware without sending it to a service center is inexcusable. If i can't update it using the type c port, i wouldn't recommend this monitor to anyone.

MAG 321UP QD-OLED / MAG 321UPX QD-OLED
It cannot update firmware by type c port on both.

It doesn't have a type b port. And except for the type c, i don't see any other usb on it. But the engineers at msi say it still somehow can be updated normally like any monitor with a type b port. It doesn't make sense to me. Unless somehow the display port in this monitor can also can be used as upstream.

It can be update firmware by DP port on MAG 321UPX QD-OLED but cannot on MAG 321UP QD-OLED.

Please refer "Firmware SOP" for MAG-321UPX-QD-OLED on MSI website.

Wait so is the msi engineer thinking that since 321upx can be updated with just display port, 321up can also be update like that. But, you're saying 321up can't be updated with display port. I'm confused now. They also recalled the version 1.06 update from the website.

Both are different model.
Because it has no firmware for MAG 321UP QD-OLED on MSI website so i don't think it also can update firmware this moment.

Could you please provide link for version 1.06 ??

The 321UP has an FW Update Utility on its support page. Does that mean it really supports firmware updates without going to an MSI center?

if you're asking abt the two specified models, yes
and don't forget there's also GPU requirement
