MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI - HELP NEEDED!

Alrigh guys,
I have just recently upgraded from a MSI B650 AMD board to a MSI MAG B850 MAX WiFI TOMAHAWK board and have a major issue in regards to the DDR5 memory working on it

I am using Corsair Vengeance DDR5 600MHZ 2x16gb.

I orginally had one stick of memory installed and everything loaded up fine. I then added the seconded one in the right place and nothing came up on the display... there is no boot errors displayed on the board

I have now removed the gpu card, now using on board display with orginal working stick in it and still nothing...

I cant acceas BIOS or even Windows. I have heard that it might be doing a memory test but for hrs it does nothing
 
Memory training can take upto about 15 minutes the first time, but if you walk away for 30 minutes or so and it's still not working there is a problem alright.
Perhaps you need to do a cmos reset to clean things up. And perhaps then it will work with the one stick again, which would indicate the second is faulty and causes some disturbance in the system that wont go away unless a cmos reset. Goodluck.
Btw is your ram expo or xmp?
 
The memory is amd ready because it was working in the b650 gaming board which was amd......

The reset CMOS button on where the usb connects are etc doesnt do a thing...
 
If there is no picture, 100% there should be one or two EZ Debug LEDs being on. Check on the board, above the 24-pin ATX header. That will give a clue.
 
During memory training, the DRAM LED will be on.

It can't be that there are no EZ Debug LEDs coming on. Does anything come on, CPU cooler fans or case fans?
 
That's very weird. Try without any RAM whatsoever. The DRAM LED should come on and stay on. It's very rare that there are no EZ Debug LEDs coming on, it would suggest that the board can't even get to the early POST checks. Maybe there is a short somewhere or something. Then you would have to test with the board outside of the case, on a wooden table for example. Something is not adding up.

What's your PSU model by the way?

Corsair rm850 power suoply... without any ram ibstall it will not boot and the ez debug lights are on
 
Alright, that's something at least. So why don't the lights come on with a RAM stick installed...

Can you try each of the four slots individually, with one module only?
 
As i have previously said at the moment i am using the onboard display only (GPU is removed) and there is no display even though the hdmi cable is plugged into the right connector on the boad. Fans, and liquis cooler with digiral display, and rgb light on memory comes on. There is no ez debug lights on it at all, but there is still no display
 
Yes, I know. I didn't question any of that, I only asked you to try the RAM slots with one module individually. A1, A2, B1, B2, to see if the behaviour changes between those slots.

When placing ram into A1 or B1 slots it will come up with a ez debug error light.. if using one ram should go in A2 and then another should go in B2 slot if using
 
Ok. I didn't understand that second part of the sentence. But apparently, in some slots, the EZ Debug LEDs come on, while in others, they do not come on? And when the LEDs come on, does it stop on one LED? Can you tell me for each individual slot what is happening? Like so:

Single module in A1 - EZ Debug LEDs come on, stopping on DRAM LED?
Single module in A2 - ?
Single module in B1 - EZ Debug LEDs come on
Single module in B2 - ?
 
You should list your hardware, cpu, ram you already did and the rest of it. It booted to bios with one stick, and after adding the second it doesn't. Removing the second stick did not help either. You wrote the clear CMOS button did nothing. Have you pressed it for 10 seconds with the system powered off? Because it's strange that at first it boots fine with one stick, but after that it doesn't anymore with that same stick.
In any case your previous board is AM4 and this one is AM5. And ram can be picky on the latter.
If the debug lights come on and off one by one all should work. Then you're left with your display which apparently refuses to give an image. Does it stay in standby mode? Does it have the option to show the amber light when standby and blue or white when on? If so there should be a moment where it goes on, and probably after a couple of seconds off again.

No, he had AM5 600-series already. AM4 would be 500-series and it uses DDR4. But I will say, going from B650 to B850 is more of a sidegrade, unless he went higher on the board model as well, to have more/better features.

Yes. And maybe this was a misunderstanding: When I say, the EZ Debug LEDs have to come on after turning on the system, I mean, they at least have to cycle through, even if they turn off afterwards. What would be very unusual - and that's how I understood him - is if the EZ Debug LEDs don't turn on whatsoever in some configurations. That would imply that the board cannot even get to the power-on self test stage for some reason, which normally happens right after turning it on.
