Hi All,

The above mentioned system has the Z490I Unify mainboard but that BIOS does not work/Flash. You will have to use the C40 BIOS that belongs with the total system (https://www.msi.com/Desktop/support/MEG-Trident-X-10X ). The Z490I Unify (https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/MEG-Z490I-UNIFY) has had however a resizeable BAR update BIOS. Question:

- Will there be a BIOS update for the msi meg trident x 10td system to use the resizeable BAR option?
Same question I asked and got a reply here, rather disappointing. Nevertheless I'm not giving up hope, had open a ticket with MSI see their official reply. If this is really not supported then one might as well just get the bare mobo to get ReBar and PCI-E 4 support rather than spending so much on their desktop.

Thanks for your reply. Would the AMI DOS BIOS Flash tool work to flash the MB with the bios? So not the MFLASH update procedure but a DOS flash boot via USB for example (AFUDE).

Please don't flash the z490i unify mobo firmware on the Trident X 10, bricking is very likely. It's different last I checked, probably it won't let the flash proceed. I suggest you too open a ticket with MSI. Not really sure why they have the same mobo but with a different bios. I only noticed the desktop version doesn't comes with the wifi antenna. Not sure the internals though as I haven't open up the system "yet".

Thanks, yes I saw the missing WIFI as wel but the system reports the exact same MB identification (7C77) as the one with antenneas. Wil consider a ticket :) Thanks again.

I hope that they update any of the newer Trident X systems bios. I don't have the need to enable BAR but I have the same issue with Bios on my Trident X 9th. It supposedly has the Z390i gaming edge ac motherboard but it doesn't have the same bios as the regular retail board. Which is a pain because the system bios b.30 is from 2018 and looking at the updates and features in all the bios updates since then makes me feel as though I'm missing out on potential performance and possibly security. Apparently, there is some difference in the board I have compared to the stock one in that it does not have 2 of the SATA connectors on the board as well as the pump fan header but I don't see why this would make a huge difference. I am kinda in the same boat being scared of bricking the system trying to flash the newer BIOS on the board but I'm not holding out very much hope in the fact that they will update the BIOS given that the fact it works how it is now. But you would think that as a product that is literally advertised as easily upgradeable would be able to get the same bios updates as someone who buys a motherboard at a tenth of the price.
But if you look at the bios version at least in my case its nearly the same the file is just named differently with the product code for the system followed by IMS and I compared some of the files to each other and they seemed basically the same in format but i have no knowledge of bios so I couldn't say one way of the other but theoretically, they are basically the same piece of hardware and any specific things to the Trident system would be external components. But I know it's not entirely that simple given capitalism and proprietary this and that but it really should be and I hope it ends up getting updated

In my case the motherboard looks identical to the retail board and even has gaming edge ac written on it so one would assume they are identical it would cost more to have a different board designed or made i would imagine.

I entirely agree with you. I should have done some deeper research not only reading some vague reviews like few saying it comes with same z490i unify board oh great but not knowingly it's sort of crippled. If MSI doesn't change this mindset anytime soon it's clear that there's no point getting their expensive pre-builts might as well just get the board separately which gets better support. So much for CPU upgrade if they don't support the 11th gen PCI-E 4 :-(

I got this, when they reply again probably going to be the same typical first level support reply. These are the two "official" headlines which made me went for MSI's Trident X 10 as it has a Z490:

MSI closed my ticket without reply, I opened a new one and after a few probes, below is what I got. I don't think the 500 desktop series support will be great either so I'll stay away from MSI's desktop in the future. The monitor that came with it has dead pixel. For a gaming desktop it came with value Samsung's value ram without XMP.

Ticket:
675703Trident X 10 Resizable Bar Support

Hi Nazar 0,

For motherboards, MSI has the support.
But for desktop, 500 series start to support resizable bar.
Desktop with 400 series won't have.
Thank you!

Any tests if it works?
Yes, after flashing, I removed the usb stick (I used the uefi method, I'm no longer using dragon center) else it won't boot up think because it does a cmos reset trying to boot into usb. While rebooting go back to the uefi to enabled the rebar option also manually applied back my OC settings 5ghz, 3900mhz etc as can't load back the OC settings from previous bios. In Windows checked the nvidia control panel and gpu-z rebar shows enabled.

Did the same, reinstalled NVDIA driver but still show "not enabled" in NVDIA driver screen. Later today trying to update GPU Vbios with Dragon Center to see if it shows enabled.

Oh yah, sorry I forgot to mention I did manually flashed the gpu bios quite some time ago when I started asking about rebar because dragon center didn't show any gpu bios update whilst the website gpu shows a newer version. Rebar needs both mobo and gpu bios support.

Where did you find that manual website update for the MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 2X (non OC)? MSI only refers to NVIDIA drivers, and there I have the most recent version?

Sorry when I said manual it is not using dragon center but yes using the live update 6 which you've found was how I first flashed the gpu bios although mine is 3080 ventus 3x 10g but it should be the same method. Only after using this method then I could see the vga bios in dragon center which of course already updated. Not sure why it wasn't previously showing anyway I'm no longer using it. You can download from the MSI site or here https://download.msi.com/uti_exe/vga/LiveUpdate.zip

Take note of the hint "MSI live update use the arrow to go to VGA BIOS its a bit hidden".
