MSI MEG x670e ACE stuck in error code after RAM upgrade

Hi,

So I decided to upgrade my RAM from Corsair DDR5-6000 32GB (2x16) to Corsair DDR5-6000 64GB (2x32). After I installed the new RAM sticks, I got error code 15 on my mobo, and I could not even get to BIOS to create a new RAM profile. Just a black screen and stuck on error code 15.

I double checked to make sure the sticks were all the way in and correctly installed, and after booting, I then got a new error messages on the mobo - changing in sequence 00-1A-01-22-DE-AD, and still just a black screen and unable to enter BIOS. I thought maybe the RAM was bad and I exchanged them for new ones. I tried to install the new RAM again today and got the same issue. I know the mobo works because I re-installed the old RAM (2x16) and have no issues whatsoever. I'm stumped. Any troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.

If it matters, here's setup:

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
MSI MEG x670E ACE
Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000MHz (16GB x 2)
GeForce RTX4090
2TB Samsung 990 PRO M.2 (x2)
2TB Samsung 970 PRO M.2 (x1)

Speed profile on the new RAM sticks are 40-40-40-77

And Do a Clear Cmos
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping to avoid this, but I'll try it tonight.

I've never had to reset BIOS for just a RAM change out. Most RAM just requires installation and an updated RAM profile in BIOS, but since I cant even get to Bios, I'll try a hard reset later tonight.

Yeah, I had a similar issue with my MSI mag tomahawk 670e wifi board. I've been playing around with some 16GB kits of G-skill Trident-Z DDR-5 6600. Anytime I move RAM around, I was getting the black screen, not posting with CPU/RAM debug lights on. If I unplugged my PSU, unplugged the peripherals, the cable to my GPU, cleared the CMOS by popping out the battery and waiting a minute or two, popping CMOS battery back in and plugging the PSU back in, then trying to start.. I could actually get it to POST. It would initially only show the RAM debug light for a few seconds, then that would go away and have no debug lights on. I could then hold down my power button until it powered down, plug all my peripherals back in and my GPU cable... and it would post without errors like it should. Anyway, never really had to reset my CMOS just because I swapped around RAM kits before, let alone removing periphials too. Anyway, food for thought.

Thanks for sharing, if I have to go through all that for some RAM, I'll be looking for a new mobo! Gonna try to reboot bios soon and do some tinkering, but with these new boards, you really shouldn't have to do what we did 10 or 20 years ago as workarounds.

I highly suspect CMK64GX5M2B6000C40 is not compatible with AM5 any more. Samsung Based kits just don’t work correctly with the recent versions of AGESA.
If you decide to try another board, hope you can report back whether that resolves the issue.
MSI needs to revalidate the QVL. I can find tons examples that the QVL listed kits that don’t work.

Has the MB BIOS being updated to the latest 7D69v184 to check?

I had the same suspicion, however after more tinkering I was able to get to boot and bios and select a new RAM profile. The clear CMOS button feature wasn't working (I disconnected power and held the button in for 10 seconds), so I had to reset the old fashioned way. Mobo also didn't select the optimal speed profile for the RAM when I finally got to bios, so I had to manually select it. Seems to be working now.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. Problem appears to be resolved.
