Hi,

I found that the monitor will scale the resolution to 5120 x 1440 regardless what's the resolution from the graphics card.

Example, during POST, entering BIOS, Windows booting, the image is stretch to maximum width 32:9 rather than display in 16:9, causing the text width is extreme wide in BIOS setup and wide Windows logo in bootup. In game it just display a black bar at left and right if we choose 16:9 or if the game is not supporting 32:9 format, which is correct. I'm using DisplayPort for the connection, DSC turn ON with 240Hz. Picture scale set to 'AUTO'.

I assume the scaling is not from GPU since the driver should not be initiated in both POST and bootup stage, that's why i point it to the monitor scaling itself.

I know this 'rare' scenario is not a deal breaker, but appreciate if MSI can look on that and fix it if possible.
Thanks.

  • Access your monitor's on-screen display (OSD) menu and look for options related to Picture Scale or Aspect Ratio. Instead of "AUTO," try setting it to "Aspect Ratio" mode to prevent forced stretching or manually set your monitor aspect ratio that you want

Do you mean change to 32:9 rather than Auto is going to solve the forced stretching issue? As far as i understand from this menu, 1:1 is the one to set, but is greyed out with native resolution.

If the manual states that 1:1 scaling is not possible at native resolution, it confirms a design limitation of the monitor. In the monitor's OSD menu, try changing the Picture Scale setting from "AUTO" to another option like Aspect Ratio or Centered (if available). This might prevent forced stretching.
Only monitor firmware can fix this. So, check if it is available for your monitor from support page

If you still face same issue then it is design limitation where i dont think you can do anything. You can contact msi support to confirm
