I recently purchased MSI X870E Carbon Wifi motherboard and I have a terrible USB disconnection. These are the sequences of my USB disconnections. First is my mouse will suddenly disconnect and it will freeze. I will unplug it from the back of my pc so that it will be usable again. 2nd all of my USB connected will randomly disconnect keyboard, mouse, mouse pad, headset and my audio will be lost if all of this peripherals disconnects. This disconnection happened while gaming or browsing at no specific time. I updated my bios to latest version and even tested it on beta bios but still the problem exist. The only thing that I adjusted on bios is the expo 1 and nothing more. Can you please point me out on what is the best way solution with this problem coz I've seen on the net that other users are experiencing with this sudden loss of usb connection.
Here is my current specs:

Has the mainboard's BIOS updated to the latest 7E49v1A33 and AMD Chipset Driver to version. 7.01.08.129? Would the USB disconnection symptom happen when EXPO disabled? Could you try lower memory speed to check if the symptom could be improved?

Yes I am currently on latest bios and the chipset driver is also on the latest version. The USB disconnection is system wide affected even on default configuration on bios.

On the 500- and 600-series boards Windows USB was bugged and you had to disable "Power Management" on all USB hubs in Device Manager to get USB to be total free from stutter. Also, on 3000-series CPUs a too low VSOC was also causing USB disconnects. Some or all of these problems may still apply as I suspect it is Windows that is bugged with AMD hardware.

I already unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" under power management and also under device manager I unchecked all the usb's that has options to save power but still the problem exists.

Did you go through HID devices as well?

In bios
Disable ERP ready
In Wake devices enable wake by USB
Disable Broad Spectrum

Update on this thread: I re installed my windows and downgraded back my bios to E7E49AMSI.1A10 (which is the stock bios from the date that I purchased); Tried the possible solutions that Alan J T suggested; Load optimized default but still my peripherals will randomly disconnected from the motherboard. I can't find any solutions to it.

Try uninstalling iCUE (it is known to cause issues with usb devices) and see if the problem persists. If everything works do not forget to install the latest bios again.

Yes I tried it on a newly and fresh installed OS.The only driver that I installed is the gpu driver and everything was on default window drivers and I tried playing CS2 and still got the USB disconnection.

Attaching the disconnecting- reconnecting of my USB while playing CS2. As you can see it all disconnects and reconnects at the same time including the audio and make my game stutter and freeze. I hope I could find a possible fix with my issues.

this could be your PSU 5VDC rail issue
If you are telling me it's a 5VDC rail issue my computer should have a random restart or shutdown if the PSU is problematic. I've seen also on other forums regarding this random USB disconnections with their x870e Motherboards.

I had USB stop working too. A lot when I first got this board. I went into the old power options menu from the old control panel still in Windows 11. (NOT the new settings menu.) Put it on high performance and then turned off power savings for USB and PCIE. No problems at all with disconnects anymore. Not one. Also have newest BIOS and chipset driver (directly from AMD). Although I had it working well before the newer BIOS and chipset driver. I believe the second X870 chip piggy backs off the first one througha couple PCIE lanes. The CPU controls a couple, the first chipset (870E) supports a few and the second chipset (X870E) one supports a few. I'm not sure how they're all interconnected but I do remember that the second one uses some PCI Express Lanes off the first one and you don't want that going to sleep because I don't think it wakes back up properly. I put PCI Express and USB on high performance in the old menu. That's it. I didn't mess with the individual devices in device manager because that didn't work either. Also when you do a bios upgrade or anything like that I don't even know if this matters but I always power off the computer completely and shut it off at the power strip so the power is completely cut and I reset the BIOS before I flash the new one. If you have issues with anything with this motherboard I found that completely cutting power to the computer by either unplugging it or shutting it off at the power supply or power strip is the only way to completely reset anything if there's a glitch going on. So to take any random unknown variables out of the equation I just did it "by the book".

Oh yeah and before I forget the sound issues, I don't remember having but I wouldn't really necessarily have have caught that because I was just going through and getting everything set up properly with my system going through all the settings and windows backing up stuff trying different stuff and then reimaging if it didn't fix anything. The audio chip set is a USB chipset and it runs off a couple USB lanes and the USB lanes are supplied by the chipsets which are interconnected to the CPU with PCI Express Lanes. So definitely make sure to turn off the PCI Express power saving in the old power options menu. Just search for control panel in the start menu and you'll see everything that you'll need to fix this.

I also had the system freeze on boot when I first got it and the cause was having a USB thumb drive attached to certain USB ports. As soon as I pulled out the USB stick, it started cycling through the boot up hex codes on the motherboards LED readout and completed booting like nothing happened. But the USB devices that stopped working... I don't believe was from an old thumb drive. But you still may want to try that if all else fails. Take as much as you can out of the equation and then start adding stuff back as it's working to see what causes the issue but I really believe the power options is what fixed it. I'm almost 100% sure.

Make sure you have the newest chipset driver FROM AMD's website.
Update to newest BIOS using the power procedure below.

I have a fresh copy of Windows 11 retail imaged to retry things if my settings don't work while trying to track down a bug. Better then trying to remember what you changed or installed or maybe the install "installed correctly" but not properly because of changed BIOS settings. Otherwise you may introduce more variables into the mix and or caused more problems.

1) Turn power off to computer COMPLETELY. Unplug or shutoff at power strip for at least 30 seconds. No power to the board whatsoever. IMPORTANT: DON'T SKIP THIS STEP
2) Push RESET CMOS on back of motherboard for 5 seconds.
3) Restore power to the motherboard.
4) DO NOT change anything in the BIOS related to USB or PCIE. Let the BIOS hand off control to Windows as it should.
Actually, don't change anything unless it's mundane like disabling the Boot Logo. Ley's not add more variables into the mix.
5) Once booted up, go to the Start Menu and search for Control Panel.
6) Once in Control Panel, go to Power Options
7) Select High Performance and then click on Change Plan Settings to the right.
8) On the next screen click Change Advanced Power Settings.
9) On the Power Options dialog that pops up, change the USB and PCIE settings like the picture shows.
10) Save and reboot.

TEST AND DONT CHANGE ANY OTHER BIOS SETTINGS

Yeah Thanks bro. I've tried your procedure already. I did a fresh install on windows 10 and win 11 and put Everything to default settings on bios. I didn't install anything on windows that might conflict with the driver. I just run youtube listening to music and in less than an hour the music suddenly stops and everything that atttached to USB were disconnected including my speaker which is attached to 3.5mm port then reconnected back but my speaker is the only thing that didn't return while youtube is continuing playing and has no sound at all. I need to plug out and in my 3.5mm jack so that the sound will return. I observed this for 2 hours and it happened twice. So I guess, the motherboard itself is defective because my old system didn't encounter this kind of problem. All of my peripherals came from my old system. I am requesting a RMA with MSI but their Customer Support is hard to reach.

Update:
There are 2 types of random disconnections that I encountered with my system. 1st is the disconnection of Mouse alone and the 2nd is all of my USB peripherals are disconnected at the same time including my speaker w/c is attached to audio jack. I isolated every peripherals in my system. First is I changed my corsair M65 mouse to logitech for this is the 1st disconnection that is happening on my system, after changing my mouse it didn't encountered any disconnection and the random disconnection of mouse was being eliminated. I don't think also my corsair M65 is defective because I used it on my other system and it has no random disconnection encountered. After isolating the mouse , the 2nd random disconnection that I encountered is it will disconnect all my USB peripherals all at once so I suspected my keyboard was the culprit and changed my keyboard to other brand to see if the problem is the keyboard but still all of my usb random disconnection persisted and it will disconnect and reconnect all my usb peripherals all at once except for the audio, I need to plug out and in my speakers to the audio jack so that it will have a sound again. So now, I am down in suspecting the realtek driver has the problem and causing this random usb disconnection. Please tell me what version should I use and I will test it out on my system coz I am using right now is the driver that MSI provided on their website.I will attached below the realtek driver version that was installed on my system based on device manager.

A little update on this thread. This might help to everyone who will encounter the same issues. After narrowing down for weeks with my issue. Now, I concluded that there are no more random usb disconnection that is happening on my system. I found out that the culprit of this problem was the Realtek ALC4080 codec. It gives me a popping sound every time my system boots into windows. I was figuring it out for so long and found out on this thread https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?...-stutter-cuts-sporadically-repeatedly.385395/ that the codec is using an excessive power savings feature being active and the work around that I'm currently using as posted by one of the user is go to control panel>sound>recording>stereo mix>listen tab>click listen to this device >then go to levels tab>drag down the volume of Stereo Mix slider to 0 and mute the device. It solves my problem and I tested it on playing my games for 3 days now without sudden USB disconnection. And for the record I am now at the latest AMI bios v7E49v1A4 as to date. Hope MSI team will see with this bug and make a fix with this.
