So I have the ability to set my monitor to 120hz and 144hz. When I set it too any of those refresh rates the screen turns black and there's a little bit of space on the top where I can see what's going on. It also has horizontal lines at the top and displays a frozen image. I am using a display port that supports 144hz, which is connected to a MSI GTX 1060 ARMOR 3G OCV1. I thought the GPU was the problem until I connected my PC into another display and it worked fine. I have tried to reinstall drivers, I used a different power outlet, I have tried using different cables, and I have tried to reseat my GPU. I paid $200 just for 144hz and I'm stuck using 60hz.
