Hi,

I just got MPG321UR-QD but I cannot enable 4k 144hz with Nvidia 1080 GPU. I am only able to have:
  • DP: 4k 120hz
    • HDMI: 4k 60hz
I have already enabled 4K 144Hz - PC on HDMI2.1 setting, installed the latest Nvidia driver, and upgrade FW https://ca.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-MPG321UR-QD/support#down-firmware . But none of them works.

Additionally, this monitor has random Momentary Black Screens for 1~2s. Is this a defective? Please help, thanks.

the GTX 1080 is HDMI 2.0b and is limited to 4K @ 60Hz regardless what software says it is as the newer HDMI 2.1 says cards support it is a total mess as the HDMI Forum have dragged all of HDMI 2.0 (2.0 , 2.0a and 2.0b) into it and is very meaningless now. so your actually stuck at 4K@60Hz on the HDMI as its all the Chip on it can do.

Hi,

I see, thanks for the reply. So I guess 1080 only supports 4k @120Hz on DP?

How about random momentary black screens? Any solution to fix it?

Most times this is Cable fault not correct one or lose or may be Driver resetting when it happens check Event viewer for any warnings or error messages

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem. Asus Poseidon GTX 1080 Ti with MPG321UR-QD (Xbox Edition because availibility). Nvidia VGA Driver 8.1.962.0 on Windows 10 (only a few weeks after new installation). I only use DP and cannot switch to 4K@144Hz only to 120Hz. Within gameing the monitor seems to resync every 1 to 10 minutes (1-2 secs black screen) with G-Sync. This happens with 4k@120Hz AND 60Hz. The cable was delivered by MSI together with the monitor. Office Working with 4K@60Hz without G-Sync works.
So obviously I have to state: G-Sync does not seem to work here correctly at least with these graphic cards. But this is a warranted feature!
Hopefully someone has a solution or I have to send the monitor back.

So.... I believe I found the solution. I bought an MSI OPTIX MPG321UR-QD and I could not do anything above 120hz with my RTX 3060. I then found out that it defaults to 120hz for consoles and you have to switch to 144hz for PC manually. I solved it using the monitor's own menu:

Settings >> HDMI 2.1 >> 144Hz - PC

you need to make sure that your graphic's card HDMI port is 2.1 as 2.0 will apparently not be able to handle this without some sort of additional compression technology.

Hope this helps anyone because the monitor is beautiful.
