MSI P55 GD65 - Nothing on the screen

Hey guys, i dont mean to revive an old thread ( IF this is one )

Im experiencing the same problem, ive just finished assembling my PC, everything works, fans , gpu shows green light , mobo lights are on etc.

specs :

MSI P55 GD65
i5 750
EVGA GTX295
4GB Kit 2x2gb OCZ Platinum DDR3 1600MHZ
CORSIAR H50 COOLER
2x Sata2 HDD 7200RPM

I know its the ram, and ive seen you guys talking about Going into the cell menu and lowering the Dram for the Rams.

How can i even reach the Bios/Cell menu when all i get is a black screen?

How did you guys do it lol?

I really want to lower the Mhz to about 1333 so i can use the Rams.

I just get no signal, ive tried With DVI and HDMI but still nothing.
 
What PSU are you using?  Is the PSU connected to the CPU +12V power connector on the mainboard?  Is your video card properly hooked up to the PSU as well?

Please unplug your PSU from A/C power and >>Clear CMOS<< and test with one memory module in the first BLACK slot only.
 
Im using OCZ 750W MODXSTREAM moduilair 80+

Well, the PSU is connected to the GPU because the GPU's Led shows green light, meaning its powered.

And its connected to the CPU aswell, yesterday when a friend of mine did the cable management he showed me a slot for the CPU power socket and there were 4 holes and a clip blocking the 5th and 6th hole, he removed that clip and i asked him why he did that, he said " With 6 pins you get more power"

Could it be because of that?

Well, that CPU Power Connector ('POWER1') is a 4/8-Pin connector.  You either put a dedicated +12V-4-Pin Connector in there, or, if you remove the plastic cap, a dedicated 8-Pin-+12V-CPU Power-Connector.  In case you now have a 6-Pin Connector in there, you got the cabling wrong.  Please check that.

And ive done as you asked, still no results...i unplugged PSU and pressed the Reset button next to the OC button, ram in 1st slot but still nothing..

And yes im sorry, there is an 8pin in there instead of 6. my bad...

PS : When i cleared CMOS and did as you asked, the lights above the RAM slots were flickering! as if it was doing something  :shocked_anim:

Test all modules seperately.  Repeat the CMOS-Clear (PSU unplugged from A/C power!) after changing modules.

 
Yep in the 1st Black slot, ok so i did that trick again and replaced module, only this time the LEDS above the RAM slots show :

LED 1 2 3 show no blue light, LED 5 6 Got a blue light...

No more flickering etc.
 
Okay.  You have to go full circle:

-> Take the board out of the case to test it on a non-conducting surface in barebone configuration (no connections to the case whatsoever, just the CPU, one memory module, the video cards and the power connectors hooked up (and:  of cource, keyboard and monitor)

Unplug the PSU from A/C power and Clear CMOS again.  Check if anything changes.

In case the situation is still the same, remove the CPU Heatsink/Cooler and take out the processor.  Check the CPU Socket for bent or broken pins and inspect the bottom side of the CPU for imprints of the socket pins on the CPU's contact pads.  Are there any areas that do not show any imprints?
 
Maybe yes, maybe no.  Perhaps there is a shorting issue inside the case, perhaps not.  Maybe there is a pin-contact problem between the CPU socket and the CPU's contact pads (maybe not).  Perhaps the PSU is faulty (perhaps not) or maybe the video card is defective (or maybe not).
 
Yeah but what i mean is, My RAM wasnt even in the QVL, is it common that a pc will run @ bootup and show no screen cuz of the ram?

I mean its 1600mhz, surely youve seen more people having problems with this board and 1600mhz rams
 
The Symptom "Nothing on the Screen" could be caused any (or several) of the following things:

- short circuit problem inside the case
- pin contact problem betwenn CPU Socket pins and CPU's contact pads
- memory compatibility problem
- PSU problem (connectors wrongly connected and/or bad/weak/faulty PSU)
- mainboard problem (broken socket pins, bad slots (DIMM slots and/or PCI-Express slots), defective chipset components, defective voltage converters/phases, defective sub-circuits)
- video card problem (faulty video card)
- faulty memory modules
- BIOS problem (BIOS Version too old to properly support the processor or BIOS Code corruption (or faulty BIOS Chip))
- defective processor
- ghost in the maschine / magic

When you look at the list above, then you will see that a memory compatibility problem is only one of many possible explanations for your problem.  In all those cases above you will not see anything on the screen. 

Currently, it is not a good idea to make a memory compatibility problem the master explanation because you do not really know if that is the definate cause at this point.  The only way to really find out is to either hook up a PCI Diagnostic Card and check the P.O.S.T. Checkpoint the BIOS halts at _or_ try different memory modules.

Suggest you start here:

... because these are pretty much the only things you can check without needing extra components to swap out your current stuff.

Actually, testing the board outside the case is the first thing that should be done with the system (to check everything BEFORE it is installed in a case). That only becomes a "hell of a job" when this first step is skipped and one has to remove everything again afterwards.  ;)

I did as you asked! and it worked!! :D:D

But now my problem is the GPU, it runs on 70c ( checked with evga precision tool and hwmonitor)

And at first youtube videos didnt work, they showe a green choppy screen and then the whole image flickered and in lower left corner it said : Error etc. etc. etc. Driver crashed but recovered.

And it keeps doing so in a loop.

Now all of a sudden it works lol, but i still cant play any videogames etc.
Every game crashes so far!

GPU : EVGA GTX295 standard clocks

In BIOS Setup (Cell Menu), set the memory speed to DDR3-1333 and the DRAM Voltage to 1.6V.  Go to the "Advance DRAM Configuration" Section and manually set the Command Rate to 2T.

70c Idle for the GPU yeah, and when i played a game it went to 80

And that ram thing, what is that good for ?

That card has a tendendency to become rather hot.  When I tested that thing, load-temperatures were around 90?C.  That is not unnormal.
