Hey all,

I have a i5 2500k in combination with the P67A-GD65 motherboard and been having some troubles since. I can not explain it better than these two images:
http://img857.imageshack.us/i/cleanreboot.jpg/
http://imageshack.us/f/84/aftersleepmode.jpg/

the first screenshot is after a clean reboot, while i'm idling @ windows, my core speeds keeps being stable.
The second screenshot is after hibernation mode. The core speed is constantly changing which is also causing games I play (making them unplayable, especially call of duty black ops which is a CPU intensive game).

Is my motherboard just broken or is it some setting i'm overseeing? I'm guessing it's the first since I didn't find any other users with the same issue yet.

Thanks in advance,

Flame

Please provide your full system spec. >>Posting Guide<<
Do a CMOS clear >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
After the CMOS clear, disable the EuP2013 function in the BIOS.
Use Prime 95 to test your CPU behaviour. That will indicate if the CPU in idle is at 1600 and under full load on all cores at 3500.
The CPU core speed changing under differening load conditions is normal behaviour - EIST.

already tried doing cmos clear, didn't help.

the first screenshot with the two printscreens shows the normal situation after a normal reboot of the computer. Then the core speed is stable @ +/- 1600Mhz when I'm doing nothing at all, when I start up Prime95 it's stable @ 3394Mhz as you can see on the screenshot.

The second screenshot shows the situation when I woke up my computer, so after it was in hibernation/sleep mode. The CPU is constantly changing clock speed, it changes every 2 seconds and is not stable at all. And this happens when I'm doing nothing at all. So it should be stable @ +/- 1600Mhz but it isn't, it changes the whole time as you can see on the screenshot.

The fact this being unstable causes my games to stutter the whole time, while after a clean reboot my games run perfectly.

Could this be a windows issue, motherboard or cpu issue?

Do you have any programs running when you put the computer to sleep?

Sometimes, the system is trying to reload back the applications that were opened before hibernation so you may encounter fluctuations of speed due to the background loading process.

Try to monitor the speed after 10 mins of waking it up after hibernation and see if the changes are huge or it has remained stable.

seems like a reformat and reinstall of windows did the trick. The CPU speed remains stable now after hibernation mode.

Only thing I need to get fixed is the stuttering during the first 5-10 seconds of Call of Duty:Black Ops (I only have it in this game).
