MSI P67A-GD80 B3. High Clocker!!! Resulted to 5.5ghz Intel Core i7 2600k OC

with the realese of MSI's P67 top of the line "Big Bang Marshal" motherboard. Another alternative model is the P67A-GD80 which is a tad cheaper but still packed with features. You have Click EFI Bios, THX TruStudio Pro Audio Environment, Super Charger which lets you charge your USB based devices even if your PC is turned off, Multi GPU Configuration like TriFire or TriSLI, Instant OC, Military Class II Components such as Hi-C Caps/SFC/SolidCaps, VCheck Points & lastly 18 Power Phase Design.

Since before, MSI is always generous with their bundled stuffs or accessories. WIth the boardP67A-GD80 you have the following:

Below is my configuration for checking the OC capability of the board. Tested the board using 2D ench Softwares
? Processor: Intel Core i7 2600k
? Memory: GSkill Perfect Storm 2x2GB DDR3 2133MHz
? PSU: AcBel R88 1100Watts
? Harddisk: WD Caviar Green 500GB
? VC: Entry level MSI RX550 I think


I managed to Clock the 2600K at 5.4GHZ. Here is a Superpi32M run. Resulted to a6m.09.XXXs. So far so good

Next, wPRIME1024m. This will make your Proc Heated Up Processor Speed, Mem Frequency and Number of Cores are all important for benching with wPrime.

Next highest clock I reached 5.5GHz. I was able to run few 2D bench softwares like Superpi1m, piFast and a screenshot for CPU-Z validation. (Warning! don't try this at home!!! hehehehe)

won't you be kind to share some bios settings as this is quiet diferent then my P55 Gd-80 to overclock?
and i have a set of 2000mhz BBSE ripjaws, they are supported in the ASUS P67 series any idea if they will work with this board?

Most competition OC'ers are usually rather reluctant to share their secrets. Especially when cash or prizes are at stake.

i know
i don't want the specs to replicate it, i like to try a lot of setings a to have a lot of bsod's
just the P67 is so diferent from the P55 so it's good to have a start point
and the gskill forum is warning about the new msi P67 boards and their mem kits, so just wanting to know if my kit will work as i am very happy with it

You just have to try the RAM when you get the board, this topic is not the place to discuss it though.
