Device: MSI PRO MP275QPDG

Issues and Suggestions:

USB passthrough in daisy-chain (DisplayPort MST):
USB ports do not function fully when multiple PRO MP275QPDG monitors are connected in a daisy-chain configuration. Devices connected to Monitor 2 are not recognized (charging works only), despite correct cabling and successful testing with high-quality replacement cables. There is no documentation or guidance about USB passthrough limitations or setup.

Productivity Tool – Restart Feature:
It would be extremely useful if the MSI Productivity Intelligence Tool included an option to soft-restart the connected monitor(s) – especially to resolve USB detection issues or when a display freezes.

Missing QHD resolution after standby:
After waking from sleep/standby, the monitor is only detected at 1024x768 or at best 1920x1080, although it supports 2560x1440 (QHD). The proper resolution is only available again after a full restart or power cycle. This appears to be an EDID or firmware issue.

Requested solution: A firmware update or Productivity Tool enhancement to fix USB functionality in MST mode, add soft-restart capabilities, and resolve the resolution issue after standby.

Feature Request: Enhancements for the MSI Productivity Intelligence Tool

Technical & Practical Features:

Software-based monitor restart
→ To resolve USB detection issues or screen freezes without power cycling.
  1. Manual EDID/DPI reinitialization
→ Useful after standby or when resolution issues appear in daisy-chain setups.
  2. USB device list & reset function
→ Show connected devices via the monitor’s USB hub and allow port-level resets.
  3. Integrated firmware updater
→ Detect, download and install firmware directly in the tool without manual searching.
  4. Signal and port status display
→ Show active input (HDMI, DP, USB-C), resolution, refresh rate, and color profile.

Business & Productivity Enhancements:

  1. Screen usage & uptime tracking
→ Log monitor usage for energy reports or ergonomic monitoring.
  2. Time-based profile switching
→ Automatically change display modes based on time (e.g. eye-saver during the day, color-accurate mode at night).
  3. Save/restore window layout
→ Restore app windows to previous positions after sleep or reboot.

Smart Extras:

  1. Sleep recovery fixer
→ Automatically verify and restore correct resolution after wake-up issues.

  2. Thank you for the great tools so far – with these additions, the Productivity Tool could become an essential companion for professionals.

Please refer manual on page 10 for Daisy-Chain function.
It must be used DP/Input on Monitor-2.

Missing QHD resolution after standby:
1.Please refer manual on page 17 and modify "Auto Scan" to OFF in input source page under OSD menu.
2.Please refer manual on page 19 and modify "Power Button" to Standby in settings page under OSD menu..

Hi fauc,

Thank you very much for your assistance and the helpful recommendations regarding the resolution issue after standby. I have applied the suggested settings ("Auto Scan" to OFF and "Power Button" to Standby), and they have already improved the situation.

I do have a few additional questions and feature suggestions I’d like to share:

Questions:
USB 2.0 limitation during MST (Daisy Chaining):

According to the manual, only USB 2.0 is available when MST/Daisy Chaining is enabled, despite the monitor having USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports.
Is this limitation technically necessary, or is there any possibility of enabling USB 3.0 support with MST in a future firmware update or hardware revision?
  1. Hardware switch for KVM (PC1/PC2):
Are there any future plans to implement a physical KVM switch button (either on the monitor or via an accessory), to allow quick switching between two connected systems—rather than navigating through the OSD?
Feature Suggestions:
Soft reboot or EDID reset function
in the OSD to restore native resolution after standby without requiring a full system restart.
Improved MST/USB-C handling after wake from sleep.
A more intelligent Auto Scan behavior, such as disabling it automatically after resume or setting custom timeout rules.
Enhancements to the MSI Productivity Tool to actively monitor and correct resolution or USB state after wake-up.

These features would significantly improve productivity and efficiency, especially for users working with multi-system and multi-monitor setups.

Thank you again for your support and for continuously improving your products.
Best regards

Hallo zusammen,

Hello everyone,
I'm not entirely sure if my setup is correct, so I wanted to post my question here for clarification.
I have PC1 (a notebook) connected via USB-C with DisplayPort MST (Daisy Chain) enabled.
PC2 (a desktop) is connected using an HDMI cable along with a USB upstream cable.

Switching between the two systems using the built-in KVM generally works fine, although a dedicated hardware switch would definitely be more convenient.
Here's my issue:
On PC2, I can select between Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 as expected.
However, on PC1 (the notebook), that option is missing. It used to be available, but ever since I connected the notebook via USB-C, I can no longer choose between the two monitors.

I've already performed a factory reset on both monitors and disconnected them from power for at least 5 minutes – unfortunately, without success.
Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this or how I can restore the monitor selection functionality on the notebook?
