UPDATE: I have installed E182LAMS.311 BIOS and Embedded Controller [EC], creation date 18 April 2025. Problem still persists. If any technician reading this, LEFT fan cause of unnecessary spinning must be investigated. Noise unbearable and gives headaches. Not gonna use the laptop much till this annoyance has a solution.

Hello There;
I have an MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG [AMD Ryzen 9955HX3D - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 24 GB] which has the LEFT fan [sitting in front of the laptop, left side vent is the source of fan noise and strong air coming when you hold your hand there] spinning at maximum since last week. Whatever I do, doesn’t slow it down, MSI Center settings, turning CoolerBoost on/off, manual fan settings, switching to MSHybrid, integrated or separate GPUs, Windows settings, power plans, FN key combos, plugging power cord off, none of them. Only right fan obeys settings, LEFT does not. It is constantly spinning at 5,393 RPM [named as Fan 1 as I can see the speed on MSI Center] which is unbearable noise and total headache. Temperatures are normal, GPUs around 35 and CPU around 45 degrees Celsius, yet the fan spinning madly, you can’t slow it down! Hence, I decided to update the UEFI BIOS but there are no up to date BIOSes in my country’s MSI website, yet I can see for example, in Italy’s MSI website, there is a new BIOS for my laptop model, just the model name doesn’t have that JG in it, it’s A9W, though I am sure that the hardware config is the same, because if it were Intel, it would be A2X, I know, yet there is also a model called A9WIG, which has a 5080 instead of 5090, dunno whether both models can use the same BIOS or not. My question is, can I use that new BIOS for my laptop or will it brick my machine, for example just because my keyboard scheme is not Italian? Do I need to wait for MSI to release new BIOS from my country’s website? I need that fan, stop, NOW! ))))))::

For the BIOS version, you can check on the global site and update it.
https://www.msi.com/Laptop/Raider-A18-HX-A9WX/support?sub_product=Raider-A18-HX-A9WJG
For the left fan, you would need to try EC reset first.
Shutdown the laptop and unplug the charger > long press the power button for over 25 seconds > plug in the charger and power on the laptop
Also, try to use the clean center master to clean install MSI Center to the version on Microsoft store.

Unfortunately, none of those worked. Left fan still mad. I think I have to wait for the next BIOS or MSI Center update. Thanks for your time, though.

Did you check in your BIOS if your trip points are at the proper temperatures?

There are no such settings in Raider A18 HX A9WJG’s BIOS, it seems super restricted. No deep tweak options unfortunately. Thanks for your time, anyway.

Kindly recommend sending it to the service center for further assistance, as it is not a normal behavior.

1ST ADVANCED BIOS: LEFT ALT+RIGHT SHIFT+RIGHT CTRL then F2

Unfortunately, there isn’t a right ctrl on the laptop’s keyboard, more unfortunate, there is a wireless gaming keyboard that works at the BIOS menu, yet it doesn’t have that right ctrl, either. If someone knows the keyboard combo to enter more advanced BIOS settings in MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG, please write here, I will try, thanks.

FN + copilot key, which is equal to the right control.
So you will need to press LEFT ALT+RIGHT SHIFT+ FN + copilot then F2

While I was playing Quake Champions, into the 15th minute, left fan suddenly slowed down and my ears relaxed af. Showing around 2500 RPM at MSI Center, both fans same speed, purr as a cat, zero fan noise, great af. Temps were GPU 62 and CPU 85 degrees Celsius. Cool as Everest. Nothing overheating. Damn fan settled down 18 days later. FFS. It is DEFINITELY a coding problem somewhere in software, either in BIOS or MSI Center. Not a thing you can change by messing with any settings because the fan is more independent than America lmao. I hope it doesn’t speed up the next time I turn on the laptop. I want this case closed and thanks everyone for your time. I’ll just update the BIOS and MSI Center when there are new versions. I’m out! 🫡
