Hiya,
I'm generally very happy with my RTX 4090 Suprim X but this card is known for its relatively high idle power consumption. Now, I'm not getting anything crazy like people who have reported 80W when watching YT videos but AFAIK the ~30W (board power draw) I'm seeing is still higher than other manufacturer's cards which drop all the way to 10W when idle.
Thus my question: Would it be advisable to update the vBIOS? Do the latest vBIOS versions have fixes for the idle power consumption? Does the board power draw drop significantly below 30W when simply using Windows for you guys who have an updated BIOS?
I'm a little hesitant to update the vBIOS because of the reports of lower power limits in newer BIOSes and resulting performance degradation. I also would not update the vBIOS if there is no fix for the idle power consumption anyway.
In short, with regard to the latest vBIOS version: Is there a fix for idle power draw and if so is there also a way to keep the 520W power limit?
