Does anyone know why the above card is performing so poor with PP? The preview when editing is very choppy and sometimes stalls even when set to 1/8 resolution. My son's 2060 super card is smoother when I swapped them out. I updated my msi mother board to the latest firmware and still crappy performance. Is this just a poor card for video editing?

So your getting a 8GB card to replace e a 12 GB card for Premiere Pro it may well be worse for memory intensive work, 3060 Ti has More Cuda Cores but a lower Clock speed and less VRam.

And the 3060 should be about 30% faster than the 2080 in Adobe so you may have had a different problem.

Maybe I'll send the card in to MSI. I suppose it could have an issue although Premiere pro is where I noticed it. Photoshop was nice and smooth editing.
I'll still try the 3060 ti but I'm going to make sure there's a good return policy if it does the same thing.

Well I tried attaching a video. Even at 480p I got a message saying it's too big. Just picture a video preview stalling so much that it looks like a slideshow instead of a video. There's no fluid motion at all. I set to performance in the nvidia panel. It's 9:16 format, maybe that has something to do with it

Upload it somewhere else like youtube, dropbox, mediafire and give a link to it

Try this: Run GPU-Z and open render test, and click run and while render test is running,
then run your app. and check if the issue will persist.

Looks fine, appear to be some specified issue between this GPU Series and this specified application.
Try all tips from here:

Thanks for your help. So it seems the card itself is fine, just something doesn't jive with the app? It's great with photoshop

Try all tips from here:

Etc: 2. Enable GPU Acceleration. and the rest within that application.
Check the link for details and rest of things.

Also ensure that you use latest adobe-premiere-pro patches and updates.
+ also update your GPU driver to the latest version 516.40:

What's the video format? I will try to use some converter like VideoProc and convert the clip to MP4(H.264 codec) and import that file to try again. Also, when you preview the clip under Source panel (not under timeline), is it choppy as well?
Btw, Photoshop is more CPU intensive than GPU.
