Hello,
I have recently bought a new PC and unable to get my HP Reverb G2 to work at all. The system i bought comprises of an MSI RTX3090ti Gaming Trio and a Asus ROG Z690-A gaming motherboard with a 12th Gen i9 processor.
My issue is that I have a Mixed Reality Port Error code 1-4. I know my headset works as have a laptop which it works with fine. I have tried an external USB hub, each one of the motherboard USB slots and even bought a PCIe USB card to see if i can resolve it but nothing. The headset is recognised by windows as a Mixed Reality device but nothing except sound comes from it not any front HP light...
I have no idea if the error is related to some kind of driver issue, with the graphics card itself or even the motherboard but is very frustrating. So my question has anyone got this card and uses a G2 headset that can point me in the right direction...?
Regards Dave

I don't know what HP Reverb G2 it is and you have a ASUS mainboard,
I don't see the connection with the GPU, you should check it with HP & Asus support

Hello,
thanks for your reply. HP Reverb G2 is probably one of the most popular VR headsets in the world. As the GPU is instrumental in allowing this to operate it has a big connection with your card and plugs into it directly. I will now seek a refund from my supplier. Your support is terrible and will ensure I never purchase MSI product again.
regards Dave

Thanks for information and clarification, my best guess was some audio card device...
Excuse the rushed conclusion based on lag of info.

In such case:
What OS you are running? [#include its revision]
Do you use latest GPU drivers?
Check also for possible DP firmware update at:

My issue is that I have a Mixed Reality Port Error code 1-4.
Found the same error code cases here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/WindowsMR/comments/kjwrr1 for possible conclusion:

After days of troubleshooting this error, turns out it was a bad cable in my case for my acer ah101. Might not be your case since it’s a new headset, but check the cable for any signs of twisting or bending and try to move it. That helped mine work from time to time.
I'm having the same issue with my O+. I think the latest windows update is kinda fucky with Mixed Reality stuff so maybe just revert the latest Windows update.
Same here, found out the USB-C connector is faulty. If you have a magnifier/microscope, check the insides of the USB-C connector for faulty pins. Unfortunately HP is delivering really bad manufacturing quality here.
I have tried an external USB hub, each one of the motherboard USB slots and even bought a PCIe USB card to see if i can resolve it but nothing. The headset is recognised by windows as a Mixed Reality device but nothing except sound comes from it not any front HP light...
Can you check that device in another PC? [or in the same NB that worked fine before?]
[to verify that still working condition]
Do you use latest FW/software for this HP device?
Can you reinstall the HP software?

So my question has anyone got this card and uses a G2 headset that can point me in the right direction...?
For that I suggest to try another GPU 1st before blame the GPU,
at this point I doubt that GPU cause it.

Also try this fix:

in no way is a two year old VR headset going to be the most popular in the word and this is the first I have heard of it as well

Your best place for support would be Steam or HP
Does it require any specific hardware like ThunderBolt

It is not even in the list
