MSI SummitPro 16 AI (A2HVETG) — constant fan noise + random 3–5s system stutters

Hi all,

I've had this machine for a short while and I'm running into two issues. MSI support hasn't been able to help so far, so I'm hoping someone here has seen the same thing.

1. Heat and fan noise
The laptop runs hot and the fans spin up loudly more or less permanently, even under a purely office workload (Office, browser, Teams — nothing heavy). I've set the power profile to ECO / Silent in MSI Center, but it makes little difference. Is this expected behaviour for this chassis, or does mine have a problem? At this rate I'll need a cooling stand, which rather defeats the point of a portable machine.

2. Random micro-freezes
Intermittently the whole system hangs for 3–5 seconds: the mouse pointer stutters, audio breaks up with a buffering sound, then everything returns to normal. It happens at random intervals, including when the machine is nearly idle. Classic DPC latency symptoms, as far as I can tell.

What I've already done:
  • BIOS updated to the latest version
  • Intel Wi-Fi driver updated to the latest release
  • Chipset / Intel drivers up to date
  • Power profile set to ECO/Silent in MSI Center
  • No third-party antivirus or EDR — Microsoft Defender only, stock Windows configuration
Questions:
  • Has anyone with a SummitPro 16 AI managed to get quieter fan behaviour, e.g. via a custom fan curve, or an MSI Center version that actually respects the selected profile?
  • For the stutters: has anyone identified a specific driver? I'm planning to run LatencyMon / WPR during an incident to pin down the culprit.

Microsoft Hybrid Graphics (MSHybrid) Flaws:
Background spikes—like a browser rendering HW-accelerated content, Discord, or routine system tasks—can trigger sudden dGPU requests. The moment Windows tries to allocate these, the whole system freezes for 3 to 5 seconds.

Try this tweak:
Lock GPU preferences for specific apps:
Head to Settings > System > Display > Graphics. Find any apps running in the background (browsers, chat apps, etc.) and manually set them to "Power saving" (forcing them onto the iGPU). This stops them from needlessly spinning up the discrete GPU.

There's also a third symptom I should mention: when the fans ramp up to full speed, I regularly lose Wi-Fi and Bluetooth simultaneously for around 5 seconds — no network, and the Bluetooth mouse stops responding. Everything then comes back on its own.

The settings above (Turbo Boost disabled, ECO/Silent profile) made no difference to this.
