MSI Titan 18 HX AI – Touchpad suddenly extremely sensitive and making clicking sound

The touchpad has become much more sensitive than before. Even with Windows Touchpad Sensitivity set to Medium, very light touches can trigger input much more easily than they used to.
physically, the touchpad still looks normal. It is flat and does not appear raised or swollen.

Has anyone with a Titan 18 HX AI experienced something similar?


Could this be related to a Windows/touchpad driver update, firmware, or could it indicate a hardware problem with the touchpad?


I would appreciate any suggestions on what I should check before reinstalling drivers or doing anything more invasive.

Update: I entered the BIOS to test the haptic touchpad. The touchpad feedback was completely normal and quiet while in BIOS. After exiting BIOS and booting back into Windows, the touchpad also started working normally again. I did not change any BIOS settings. Before entering BIOS, the touchpad was consistently producing the abnormal louder clicking feedback.
