Upgraded my Trident 3 i7-7700 Arctic version GTX 1070 to Gigabyte RTX 2070 ITX version. No problem running the system.
Hello!, you can provide more information about it:

- Does it work with the same power supply or do you need an extension?
- Why you decided Gygabyte instead of MSI, does it fit on the chassis?

I would like to update my GTX 1070 itx, I had thought of a GTX1080 itx but I think RTX1070 have a better performance.

Thanks!

I have a MSI Trident Artic 060eu, Intel core i7, GTX 1070 DDRM5 8G. Possible to upgrade GTX2070 ?. Big Improvement. My goal is VR with HTC Pro vs HTC VIve.

Thanks a lot

The reason I go for GIgabyte RTX 2070 is it come with VIrtual link USB-C port. Future VR headset suppose to support single cable to VR headset. No modification or extension cable needed as Arctic version support 8 pin PCIe GPU power cable.

Here's the settings if anyone is interested in upgrading to RTX 2070. Make sure you read the article on undervolting CPU and GPU. Pay attention that BD PROCHOT must be enable in Throttlestop as this will automatically throttle your CPU if you hit power limit. If you disable this option, your Trident 3 might sudden shutdown under extreme load.

Thank you very much rjyap for all the information, it is very useful!

I have the MSI Trident 3 8rd-214xeu (not Artic), I assume that it is the same as yours and I will not have problems with the pins of the graphics card.
I am in doubt if I buy the Gygabyte or MSI (without VIrtual link USB-C port, I think you can always connect an adapter). A user reported that he had space problems to install the GTX1080 itx and did not close the side panel correctly, could you close the box without problems with Gygabyte RTX2070?.

On the other hand, I have the doubt if the RTX2070 will be limited in power and could never work at 100%. There is a lot of difference between the GTX1070 and the RTX1070 on 4K ultra?

Thanks!

Model: ADP-330AB D
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 4.4 A
OUTPUT: 19.5V ~ 16.9 A

I successfully added the following to my 8th Gen Trident 3 with 230 watt power supply:

  • GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1660 Ti GV-N166TIXOC-6GD
  • Crucial 16GB DDR4 2666MHz DRAM SODIMM (260-pin) CT16G4SFD8266
  • 6-pin female to 8-pin male PCIe power cable

Make sure the GPU has a TDP of 120 watts or less and is no longer than 170mm.
Hi friend,
where I can buy such a cable because I can not find a 6 PIN plug, these are probably the wrong ones    they have such plastic and will not slide into the MSI TRIDENT 3 TH 8 motherboard  -  https://www.delock.de/produkte/G_83775/merkmale.html?setLanguage=pl

I would very much ask you to give me a link to buy this cable thank you, regards. Martin

I have an Msi Trident 3, i5-7400 with gtx 1060 3gb. I love it, but the CPU bottlenecks my graphics card when it comes to games, only being at 3.0ghz. My favortie game to play is assassins creed odyssey and it tuns good for the most part, but I'd like vetter performance. So my question here is

Can the CPU in the msi trident 3 be upgraded?

I have a Trident 3 8ra-080US I5 8400 2.8gh It currently has the pre-installed GTX 1050 2GB and I know the spec say that I can go up to the 1060 6GB. Im wonder if the GeForce? GTX 1660 Ti AERO ITX 6G is compatible. I know it will fit based on the size, but will it meet the power limits. Sorry I know enough to get myself in trouble but don't have the money to buy something that just wont work.
