MSI USB-C Docking Station

I connected my MacBook Pro, external drive, and two monitors, using the MSI USB-C Docking Station. The laptop detects and recognizes the external hard drive, but not the monitors. Would there be any reason why the laptop would detect the drive, but not the monitors? I submitted a ticket to Apple, but all they told me was that it might be something wrong with the docking station... Any help is much appreciated.

are you connecting it to one of the 4 side thunderbolt ports?

the laptop is plugged into the thunderbolt port on the backside of the docking station, along with the monitors which are plugged into the DP ports, and the external hard drive is connected to one of the two USB ports on the back of the docking station

it may be that the Apple hardware doesn't like it as they are well known for 3rd Party Devices not working as they lock it down hard. do you have a friend with a Regular Windows PC with a USB C SS 20GBPS port on it just to test it?

its detecting the external hard drive...........which was connected directly to the laptop before. I was thinking of getting a dongle and connecting them, one by one, to the laptop and seeing if it catches them....and if it does, connecting thru the docking station. I don't have any other ideas tho

ok so we are stuck with a 50/50 chance here that its either the Mac not liking it or its defective so its upto you if you want to try a RMA on the Hub.

it may be your mac is handshaking for USB pass through nicely but not the DP and HDMI Passthrough on the same port as usually Apple like to sell there own Dongles for that.

so again its upto you if you want to return the Hub and hope its just a problem with it.

I got you. I think I'll try connecting individually directly first (since a dongle shouldn't cost too much) and then going off of that result. Thank you for the help and advice. I appreciate you taking the time to help.

one other question....if you have time. I saw something online about display link.....sounds like a driver to help your Mac detect monitors? Have you heard of this and if so, do you know if this is an option I should consider?

I ordered a docking station from Apple and it worked right off, so I guess it was just the finickiness that they put in their machines. I'm going to return the MSI dock. Any idea if I can un-register the dock with MSI or does it matter?
