Hi MSI,

I was wondering if anything could be done about my GPU not being able to go above 290 watts? My card cannot even reach the advertised boost levels because of the intrusive power limit you have applied to the card. I average around 1610Mhz boost and my card sits around 68c.

Please, any information would be greatly appreciated as I feel rather scammed right around now.

Nothing to be changed about power limit. That can also not cause a frequency of 1610Mhz. Looks more like the card is not boosting due to too little load or capped fps e.g. by active vsync. What game are you trying?

I play Red Dead Redemption 2, amongst other GPU intensive games. The card starts off around 1700Mhz or so, but then wheens off to around 1610 or thereabouts. I checked GPU-Z and it says I'm being power limited by my cards vBIOS. I'm not really comfortable flashing my GPU and apparently even if I did, unless MSI release a new vBIOS for the card, it's not going to make any difference as I have the new XUSB 2080 Ti, which use a different EEPROM or something. I play with VSync and any frame limiting software off. I achieve around 76FPS in RDR2 at 1440p.

Ah, ok. Then looks like the game simply draws a lot of power with normal boosts. The clockrate used for the specs are an average boost ususally available. It can vary depending on game and situation. Try with a different game or benchmark like Unigine Valley with maximum details: https://benchmark.unigine.com/valley

Thanks for your feedback but I've tried Valley amongst other benchmarks like MSI Kombuster. I would really be appreciative of a new BIOS for this card to remove this dark 290w limit as I know I'm losing performance. :(
