MSI x58 Platinum *latest bios*
Corsair 3x2gb TR3X6G1600C8  1600MHz at latencies of 8-8-8-24 at 1.65 VDIMM
OCZ OCZ700MXSP 700W SLI/CrossFire Active PFC
geforce 280gtx
NOTHING ELSE CONNECTED

Now my first question is am I suppose to be able to boot with a single ram stick in any slot? because I cant except in a0 *the 2nd slot from the cpu*, any of the 3 ram sticks work there in single channel but dual or tripple channel doesnt work at all , I get no post no beeps no video.

I been reading alot of threads here but none have helped, I'm leaning towards maybe my ram slots are not working except a0.

Now the next thing I know people would ask if i did was change settings from auto well I copied this guys settings exactly
https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=125908.msg948214#msg948214

Intel EIST: Auto
Intel c-state tech: Disabled
Base Clock: 160
Intel Turbo Boost tech: Disabled
Extreme Memory Profile: Enabled
Extreme Memory Profile Mode: Advance
Memory Ratio: Auto
Uncore Ratio: Auto
CPU Voltage (V): Auto

Advanced Dram Configuration:

Didnt work for me,and I also read another thread about bent pins in the memory slots and I looked at mine there all straight. Any other suggestions?

-sorry for :censored: ty formating just typing this out quickly

The settings linked are with an Eclipse board. Even 'same' boards with the same components can react differently with identical settings. Try this to establish the other slots are ok other than A0 (black), which 'is' the recommended primary slot btw. It also needs to be mentioned that the integrated memory controller of the i7 series, only natively support 800/1066 modules. For now, for testing, recommend timings of 9 9 9 24 2N(T), DRAM V. 'Auto', 'Spread Spectrum' disabled, XMP disabled, 'Mem. Ratio' set to 4, 'Uncore Ratio' set to 8, test for boot. If ok, add the other 2 mem. sticks in slots B0 & C0 (black), & test for boot.

No go , I can boot with thoose settings but with only 1 stick in a0, as soon as i put in the other sticks it doesnt post or anything just powers up and restarts constantly.

Any other suggestions or is it time to RMA?

Yes.  :bonk: I missed a critical step before all the bios resets. I forgot to ask you to clear CMOS with the power cord removed, & 'then' do the setting adjustments.

Is your PSU single or multi +12V rail? Does it provide more than 18 +12V amps to the board? With the new recommended settings, at this point, maybe a DRAM V. increase to 1.6 with A0 B0 & C0 populated might work. I hope someone chimes in with something we are missing here. It may be helpful if a ticket to MSI Tech. Support is initiated. They may have a solution or recommendation as well. http://ocss.msi.com.tw/

If it isn't booting in the slot closest to the CPU socket, your DIMM slots are most likely faulty.  Of course, there's also the possibility that your i7 has a faulty memory controller.  But I would blame the board first. ;D

Hi there Aaron! His board does boot with a single stick in the A0 (black) slot. The slot closest to the CPU is actually the A1 (blue) slot. The manual is pretty adamant about using the A0 slot (black slots) first. Like you mentioned, can't rule out the i7 IMC, but it is kind of pointing to B0 & C0 slots being faulty.

I see!  I was not aware of this.  i7 n00b :lol_anim:

Not sure then...  I would still get the board checked out.  Trying different memory would be a big plus, too.

Going to buy a D0 920 and X58 board soon (no idea which one), I will get back to my expected standards then, I hope. :-))

ive tried both OCZ 700W ModXStream Pro and OCZ 600W gamexstream. Ive already tried manually increasing the DRAM v to 1.6 and 1.65. Think I will contact support, thanks for all your input/help :D

Just for the record, I had a similar problem and it turned out that the problem was that my graphics card was not seating properly. I swapped out my graphics card and boom! It worked.
