Hi Al l,
I am really new to this type of computer building lark, I have the above board, with a 1tb sata drive , 3 sticks of 2gb memory, 1600 dominator, problem is icannot get it to run at 1600 and windows only see's 3.700gb not 6gb.All sticks are inthe right places, can anyone take me under there wing and help me with my bios settings?
regards
Mike ( UK )

A CMOS Checksum error is normal and expected after a BIOS Update and/or a CMOS Clear. Don't worry about it.  Just hit F1 and load "Optimized Defaults" in BIOS.

If you haven't cleared CMOS after the flash, please do that now (with main A/C power cable removed from PSU).  And yes, you will get another CMOS Checksum Error message after that and that is exactly what should happen.

"Rebooted" after doing what exactly?  Please be more specific.  You have to tell us what you are doing there otherwise we have no idea what is going on.

Have you done this yet, yes or no?

clear CMOS with main A/C power cable removed from your PSU

sorry, booted the pc and windows 64 has launched and i have the desktop, got cpu tweeks installed, do i run it and take snap shots ?

Since it appears you have a 64-bit OS running:  A 920 won't set DDR-1600 on stock speeds.  You will need increase the baseclock to get DDR-1600.  We can go into more detail once your system is stable at stock settings.  Run some stability tests to confirm.

Is this what you need to help me ? now running 64 bit vista ultimate, 3 sticks of TR3X6G1600C8D G, boosted the cpu speed to 160, instead of 133.Any idea how to get the memory running at 1600, or it's optimum, thanks for your help guy's, learned a lot today, more tomorrow I hope

when I get this stable I need to fit the other HD4850 to crossfire them, should I have any problems there or ir it straight forward?

installed the other card, up and running in crossfire, cannot wait to try Crysis out, hope someone will reply and help me with the memory settings

sorry just started windows update will take a while it's a new install ,but when I do enable it what will I have to do then please

Yeah, stable means:  No crashing, no Bluescreens, no random shut-downs, no hardware related error messages under windows, no freezes, no boot-up loops etc.

Please get overclocking completely out of your head for now.  Test if the system is stable with XMP enabled.  If it is, congrats! And if it isn't we will give you some specific settings for testing to make the system stable.

Let the updating process finish properly.  Aborting it now could cause extra troubles.  You can worry about the memory settings after that.  There is no hurry.

sorry for all the rush, you must think I'm a 12 yr old kid ,waiting for christmas, I am 53 and never done anything like this before, the wife is screaming in my ear '' you should have bought one already built and you would not be sitting there swearing at it ''
