MSI x870 Tomahawk EXPO not working

Hi all, I recently bought the x870 Tomahawk with Ryzen 9950x and a 64 GB Ram Kit (2x 32gb sticks): Corsair cmk64gx5m2b6000z30. I am on the latest A16 beta bios and whenever I enable the EXPO setting the board fails to boot with A6 motherboard code - the RAM is rated at CL30 6000MHz. I have tried many different settings (EXPO on/off while manually setting 6000Mhz and lower speeds etc.) but nothing works. Also had MCR and Power down off and on but the system will only boot with the RAM at its default 4800 MHz CL40 speeds.
Any suggestions on how to get the RAM working at advertised speeds on this board would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Solution
expo actually means overclocking

expo ram is "certified" to run at expo profile settings
cpu is "cerfified" to run at amd spec DDR5-5600
mainboards should be able to run the memory as stated in the QVL documentation (if the memory kit is not present in the QVL prepare for surprises)

so if you have problems with expo memory the percentages must be split like this

40% unlucky IMC (or other cpu related problem, mounting pressure for example)
30% unlucky ram kit (sometimes the memory needs a small tweak to run at expo values)
30% unlucky mb (defective memory lanes, very common on ddr5 motherboards, with no vendor exceptions)

this is why support have to answer like that
"in theory" the cpu is more likely to be the problem because...

At this point you can only hope for a bios fix or just change to a kit mentioned earlier in this post. Also you are not on latest bios, latest is A1A

Yeah it's wild to see an official MSI mod saying to RMA the CPU.
It is up to the CPU IMC and it only needs to support up to 5600 for AMD to give it a PASS.
BUt if you make enough noise that may honour a RMA

IMO it really should work at 6000MT/s with 2 sticks. It's ridiculous that it doesn't. They sell the board as 8000+, specifically saying memory speeds are improved, then you can't get 6000? At the very least it's misleading marketing.
Talk to AMD
MSI do say it is up to the CPU to support

And in a way I do Agrees since AMD claim the sweet spot of CPU performace is 6000MT and they do all testing at Memory support of 6000MT so yes the CPU they Bin shoud easily support 6000MT

It looks like the CPU is the problem in my case, with another Ryzen 7600 everything works absolutely stable.
Yep sadly since the 6000 series CPU AMD seem to let to many pass the test that should be re-binned as a lower tier CPU or just scrapped

This also complicated in house Testing as Retail CPUs are not used for testing with the Board partners but Valiadeted CPU that meets a much Higher Pass mark

sweat spot of CPU performace is 6000MT
no pun intended?

sweat or sweet?
:ROFLMAO:

They should sell 2 version of the same cpu, like intel did with the K models for example
a base model rated at the standard 5600mhz
and a K model "certified" to work 6000mhz, binned cpus that passed an extra step of QC

Would be the second one

Have this same problem here with CMK32GX5M2B6000Z30 RAM in two separate builds, both cannot post when set to Expo (or XMP), stuck on 4800 tried multiple (including the latest) BIOS versions.

The odd thing is, it's listed as compatible:

I have exactly the RAM with this part number, but in a different revision as stated in the MSI QVL (5.43.01). No chance of getting it to work in the EXPO profile (automatic or manual settings). It gets stuck with error code "Ab". Even a reset or cold start doesn't help. System runs stable with Standard SPD setting (4800MT/s).

I will soon be getting other RAM modules (e.g. G.Skill or others as already mentioned here in the forum), Corsair is at the bottom of my list at the moment.

I have the same problem with 9800x3d, CMK64GX5M2B6000Z30 and MSI x870 Tomahawk on 7E51v1A1A. Is there anyone who's been able to make the Corsair Vengeance DDR5 6000MHz work with EXPO on this motherboard or are you guys just replacing the ram/motherboard? Still any hope for a bios update fix?

I just replaced it with the RGB version that seems to work fine. I guess is matter of bios updates but im not gonna wait in hope, also the new kit was cheaper in amazon on my country so a win win i guess.

I didn't talk to AMD, I changed to a different motherboard instead and it just worked. It wasn't the CPU.

Could be ram/motherboard or in my case it was the CPU. I wouldn't bet on a bios fix.

I had my ram working on 5600 when i was on bios A10 and after updating to A1A it wont work with 5600. So in my case its MSI board bios problem. Pretty shitty motherboard and bios so far. And there is not even the A10 bios nowere i can find to revert to it.,

MSI support is asking if i can try with another ram since it's not on the QVL on the MSI website. To check the qvl is not something that was mentioned on the product page when i bought the seemingly compatible hardware..
