Problem Description:
CPU Temp sensor gets stuck anywhere between 55 degC-65 degC.
After loading the system temp reporting works ok, when you put any stress on CPU,
after 1-5min telemetry stops working. This happens both in Windows and in Linux.
It doesn't matter which application is used to monitor the temp, same thing can be
observed in HWInfo or in MSI Center, or in Linux lm-sensors
Unfortunate side effect of this is that CPU fan also gets stuck at higher
speeds, whole curve temp control becomes useless.

Any ideas?

Sensor errors or limitations in BIOS/UEFI

Some motherboards have bugs that cause sensor values to freeze or stop reporting when they reach a certain temperature.

Chipset driver or ACPI related issues

If the same symptoms occur in both Windows and Linux, there may be a problem with the hardware-level power management (ACPI) or sensor interface.

Faulty sensor chip itself

The chipset that contains the temperature sensor may be broken, or some circuitry on the motherboard may be damaged.

Conflicts between fan control software and sensors

Conflicts may occur when multiple monitoring tools, such as HWInfo, MSI Center, and lm-sensors, access the system at the same time.

[Solution]

Update BIOS

Try updating to the latest BIOS from the motherboard manufacturer’s website. Many sensor-related bugs have been fixed.

Reset BIOS settings

Run “Load Optimized Defaults” or “Reset to Default” in BIOS, save, and reboot.

Single sensor monitoring tool

Run only one monitoring tool at a time. In particular, HWInfo can cause crashes because of its strong sensor access.

Reapply thermal grease and check the cooler

Check if the cooler is properly installed and if the thermal grease is not dry. If the fan stops spinning at high speed, it may be due to poor cooling performance2.

Adjust ACPI parameters in Linux

You can also try kernel parameters such as acpi=off or acpi_enforce_resources=lax at boot time.

I am on newest the BIOS, the sensor is getting stuck even without any monitoring program being active, all you need to do is load the processor and after some random but short time it gets stuck (it is apparent because fans spin like mad and there is 1-5% load on CPU). Optimized Defaults don't work, also disabling EXPO mode on DDR doesn't help. No need to reapply grease, because the CPU doesn't get overly hot, sometimes sensor gets stuck at 58 degC. Adjusting ACPI flag in Linux is pointless because this isn't problem limited to Linux. Your advice seems AI generated.

Check for EC firmware update: Contact your motherboard manufacturer or see if they provide a separate EC firmware.

Adjust BIOS advanced power settings: Try disabling C-State, SMI, ASPM, etc.

Test with a different PSU: It’s also a good idea to test with a different power source to rule out a power supply issue.

Contact your motherboard manufacturer: Since this symptom is outside the normal range, it’s important to contact your manufacturer’s technical support along with the logs.

Please provide full system configuration including the mainboard's BIOS version as the post advises: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threads/posting-guide.38822/
Has the mainboard's BIOS updated to the latest version 7E59v2A6? https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-X870E-TOMAHAWK-WIFI/support

If the problem persists even after updating the BIOS,
it could be a defective motherboard or a defective fan,
so try replacing the fan first.

If the update still doesn't work,
it could be a defective motherboard.
I'm sorry I couldn't help.

While this is an English-only Forum, many users do not speak or read English natively and have to rely on Translator Apps
I appreciate it, English is my second language as well. It is not how he wrote those things, but what he wrote. I am still 100% sure he used an AI agent, if you actually read what he responded, you will come out with the same conclusion.

Rather than AI, I just searched on the Internet and gave you my knowledge.
And I'm trying to help members.
If you say that, the forum will get worse, so
whether it's 100% AI or a translator.
I'm not sure about that.
I also search on the Internet and help you.
If you were me.
You searched on the Internet using a translator,
and if you keep insisting that it's AI,
you'd feel worse, right?
I've experienced that too,
but I feel hurt rather than worse.
You have to respect the members and understand them.
I don't think this forum has anything to do with AI, whether it was translated or done by AI.
That's all I'll say.

If so, try this.

Reapply modprobe after sensors-detect on Linux
In a Linux environment, run sudo sensors-detect, then manually load (modprobe) the detected module to see if the sensor works again.

If this doesn't work, try updating the BIOS and
contact us again.

Again you prove that you don't read the post, you just skim over it. Bios is already in the newest version. I know how to probe sensors in Linux. CPU temp sensor on motherboard and in CPU stop responding, they get properly stuck, KAPISH? Fan is also absolutely perfect and reports RPMs, also tested on another system. Please stop trying to help me you have nothing to contribute.

No swearing allowed.
Anyway, the fan is bad
Or check the fan motion sensor
Or try resetting the BIOS.
In other words, I wrote non-AI content.
I'm sorry if it was misunderstood as AI.
The main problem is suspected to be a fan defect.

I use MSI motherboard program.

How do you know the fan is bad, were you able to test it remotely?

really?! Is my post not an attempt to reach out to the manufacturer?
"Adjust BIOS advanced power settings: Try disabling C-State, SMI, ASPM, etc." -
BIOS default values loaded
"Contact your motherboard manufacturer ..." -
I wonder who might that be? I think the address of this website: https://forum-en.msi.com/, and name of the motherboard: MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK WIFI might be a clue?

I said re-prediction.
In other words, I have never seen your
remotely.
Or it could be a problem on the fan side
Or it could be a problem on the main board
I just said re-prediction.
And I am helping members.
I am sorry if I offended you.
