Msi x870e tomahawk wifi Realtek Audio Console wont load

I have installed all the drivers for this board. I installed the realtek audio drivers as well via the website and it does not install the required realtek universal audio service that is required for the realtek audio console to work. I consistently get the can not connect to rpc service error when launching the console. I have even done a ddu uninstall of all the drivers and reinstalled them, I have even tried a manual driver install. nothing seems to work. I have audio but can't use the console.

I have additional troubleshooting notes, driver package comparisons, Device Manager hardware ID captures, INF analysis, catalog/signature validation results, installation logs, and the steps performed to isolate the failure. I can provide these if needed.
The published MSI Realtek UAD package appears to be missing a matching hardware ID entry for this revision/device configuration.

Why ExtRtXUsb_Msi_RTK.inf needs to match USB\VID_0BDA&PID_4080&MI_00?
I thought it should have a matching device ID something like USB\VID_0DB0&PID_CD0E&MI_00?
When vendor id 0DB0 means MSI and product id CD0E means Realtek ALC 4080?

How did you remove the Realtek audio driver? If you uninstall the driver in Device Manager, it might not remove all Realtek USB audio related drivers.
I would go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed Apps and uninstall Realtek USB Audio from there, which seems to completely remove all related drivers.

I have already completely removed and reinstalled the Realtek USB Audio package multiple times, including removing the driver packages before reinstalling. The behavior is always the same.

I also compared my MAG X870E Tomahawk WiFi directly against my wife's MSI X870E Edge Ti WiFi. Both motherboards use the Realtek ALC4080 codec and the exact same MSI driver package.

The difference is that on the Edge Ti, Windows automatically enumerates the device with the hardware ID expected by the MSI extension INF, so the extension driver, software components, and Realtek Audio Console all install correctly.

On my Tomahawk, Windows initially installs a generic USB Audio driver. I have to manually force the Realtek USB Audio driver through Device Manager just to get the correct base driver installed. Even after doing that, the Realtek extension driver and software components never install, so the Audio Console remains mostly blank with no jack configuration or impedance options.

My Tomahawk enumerates as USB\VID_0BDA&PID_4080, while my wife's Edge Ti enumerates with the hardware ID expected by the MSI extension INF.

Since the same MSI driver package behaves differently on two MSI X870E motherboards using the same ALC4080 codec, I'm trying to determine whether the Tomahawk is exposing a different USB hardware ID than intended or whether the extension INF is missing support for the Tomahawk's enumeration.

That's weird, so the driver does not install correctly and I guess you're still seeing "Realtek USB 2.0Audio" in Device Manager?
Can you take a screenshot of the full Hardware Ids of Realtek USB 2.0Audio, which should contain the FW version (Rev_xxxx)?

no but my wifes x870e edge ti wifi that also has an alc 4080 chip in it does. i have attached the screenshot with the hardware id numbers

welp i just had a friend with the exact same board show me the hardare id of his and it came up as correct. his console and audio works. So my board it would seem has a defective alc 4080 codec

I attempted the firmware update using the provided tool.

• The utility detected the codec (RT Audio Connected).
• The update failed immediately after "Begin to Download."
• Afterward, Device Manager showed Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
• I uninstalled the Unknown USB Device, and Realtek USB2.0 Audio disappeared at the same time, suggesting they may be related.

Has anyone seen this behavior before? Is there a recovery procedure for the ALC4080 firmware, or is this indicative of a hardware issue?

If running the audio FW update tool still cannot restore the functionality, it is possible that the Realtek audio chip is faulty.

thats what i was afraid of. the analog ouputs dont work at all. only the optical works but i have no console functionality and i have to force install the realtek driver.

So what should I do then, the board is still under warranty, but i will have to reinstall the original ILM for the board as im using a contact frame on the board.

If you do not want to send the motherboard under warranty, maybe try a USB headset or install a PCIe sound card?

well im gonna send it in for warranty now at this point as ive now exhausted everything. ive only had it 7 months but the console never worked and the analog was spotty at best.

ok so this is odd. i reinstalled windows just to reset everything. so optical works, rear analog out and mic input doesnt work. The front panel works though for analog for mic and audio using my hyper x 3 headset as its a combo jack. 32 bit 384hz. I even plugged my edifier 1280dbs speakers to front panel and they work. no audio on the rear. everything else works on my board but this issue with the realtek audio, so i dont know if i should rma it now and should just get an add in pci-e sound card

The issue with this is, I put a contact frame on board. I can't find the stock cpu retention bracket. I also cant afford the diwn time for 2+ weeks. This is my main pc and I don't have another one. I use this pc to stream to twitch, job hunt and will be used for remote it work.
