MSI Z270 SLI Plus motherboard
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
System type Windows 11 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Current GPU Geforce GTX 1660 Super
Corsair 850w modular psu new

I had been running this rig for a couple of years and only had to replace the psu. It was working fine until I tried to upgrade the graphics card by replacing the gtx 1660 supper with an rtx 3060 ti. With the rtx card installed the motherboard behaves like there is no power to it. Nothing happens when I try to power on. No sounds, no lights just nothing like the mb has no power although it does. I can put the gtx 1660 super back in and it powers up and runs without issue. I tried putting the rtx card back in thinking maybe it wasn't seated in the pcie slot all the way or the power cable wasn't in all the way but the same thing happened, won't power on. I put the gtx 1660 super back in one more time and the system powered on and ran without issue. I had a friend put the rtx card in their pc and it worked with no problems so I know the card is good. Is it possible its the msi z270 sli plus mb just not supporting the rtx card? The card is listed as compatible with the mb but obviously an issue is occurring and I'm not sure what to do now. Any suggestions are welcome.

Well I have a followup to my post. I got a little frustrated after the issue I was having and just left my old gtx 1660 super in the pc. At least it was working. Researched a little, found a couple people with the same issue as me but no solution. I was seriously pricing a new mb, cpu and memory when I just decided to give it one more try. Unplugged everything, Reset the cmos on the motherboard for the third time, swapped graphics cards putting the new RTX 3060 ti in just plugging it's power and monitor cable but leaving all the usb ports unplugged. Well I guess the third times the charm because the pc powered on posted and went to the bios as it was supposed to do. Made the bios settings changes I needed and restarted the pc. Before I knew it I was booting into the os. My rigs back to purring like a kitten and I love the new gpu! A big thank you to those that read the post and it feels good to have my pc running like it should.
