Hello,

I just updated my MSI Z690-A DDR5 Bios from version 7D25vA7 to 7D25vA8 and after the reboot all of my settings were wiped out.
I applied all of my previous config including my undervolt settings for my 12700K.

I had set the mode to offset + adaptive with a -0.100mV setting, this worked fine with bios version 7D25vA7 and my CPU would stay around 72C at around 170Watts of power draw during Cinabench R23.

Now with Bios 7D25vA8 and with the same undervolt settings, CPU goes to 100c on some cores and power draw is around 238Watts.

To rule out any config issues I cleared my CMOS via the jumpers and re-configured all my previous settings on bios 7D25vA8 but the settings don't seem to apply.

I also reverted to using 7D25vA7 with my settings and this works correctly, all of my settings are working because when running Cinabench R23 my power draw does not go over 170Watts and CPU is at around 72C.
Anyone have any ideas why changing the bios would make the undervolt settings not work.

Pleas list full system build
Pick of Memory sticker with last half of serial number covered.
and supply screen shots of bios setting for Memory press F12 to get them
Then save as .jpg so they will fit in forum posting
Ex of memory sticker.

Just to say that this bug was also present in the beta. I've just updated to vA8 on my z690 pro a wifi ddr5 board (after having to try several different storage devices before I finally got it to update), just tested cinebench and the undervolt seems ok now... but in whatever beta version was between a7 and a8 (sorry can't remember the actual details of the version number etc), I had to switch back to stable a7 as the beta caused my undervolt to not apply.

As well as above Disable Core Isolation in OS please go to BIOS and
Search for the following
BIOS\OC\Advanced CPU Configuration\Under Voltage Protection and disable it

This should allow you to use your Under volt

But looks like MS updates may be a problem for OC setting till Board suppliers roll out Bios version that will fix MS updates.

Interesting.I usually turn off anything to do with virtualisation in the bios, as I thought it was only relevant if you're running vm, such running a windows environment from within linux or vice versa?

Maybe that's why it seems to work for me even on A8?

Although, the article does specifically mention software within windows being affected, whereas what the op and I were talking about was the undervolting options actually within the bios itself.

I did not touch Core Isolation but it is enabled on my Win11 install.
Changing the Bios value BIOS\OC\Advanced CPU Configuration\Under Voltage Protection to Disabled fixed my issue. My undervolt settings were applied successfully.

Im not 100%, but I THINK that the undervolt protection setting now defaults to auto, but this now equates to disabled, instead of being enabled by default in the previous bios?

I have set to disbaled
Yeah, I did the same soon as I installed, but I think that before I set it, it was on auto and listed in grey next to it, it said disabled anyway.... so I don't know if we need to manually set it anymore.

Either way, -0.120 p cores, -0.100 e cores, saves me about 10-15 degrees, no loss in performance and everything working great, rock stable (12700k btw).

In my case (12700k) I set an offset of -0.180 and it is stable. Retrieved 25 degrees (over 100 to 75).

Nice. I have to admit, I haven't ever gone back to testing new settings since all the bios updates. I know that .12 was as far as I could go on the original bios..... but then I also couldn't go above 5200mhz on the ram and I'm now rocking 5800-28-35-35-28 :)

I have Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) 6000 MT / s DDR5 CL40 and they work perfectly at 6000. But I have not overclocked because I have air cooling for the moment.
