If you have Z690 mainboard with initial BIOS version [.100/.A00/.H00/.B00]
To avoid and prevent Intel ME FW corruption and flashing issues like described in those topics:
and others topics....
and to prevent further possible data lost like (UUID, board S/N, Windows key, MAC Address(For Intel Ethernet only), Windows reactivation issues)
on attempts to fix it:
Do NOT use M-Flash to update your BIOS from the initial BIOS version. [.100/.A00/.H00/.B00]
Instead use >>Forum UEFI Shell Flash Tool<< to update your BIOS to the latest BIOS version,
along with a Custom ME-FW version at once.
Once done, do a 2nd reflash again with >>Forum UEFI Shell Flash Tool<< to the same BIOS version that you have flashed earlier (etc. latest version for your board)
but this time do not load the Custom ME-FW and let the tool auto detect board to re-flash to the latest ME-FW Base version along with BIOS.
Example and Guide:
Let's take MSI PRO Z690-A WIFI DDR4 board with initial BIOS version 7D25v10 (E7D25IMS.100)
1. Run the tool and load latest BIOS version for this board, etc.: E7D25IMS.1M1
E7D25IMS.1M1 Loaded:
2. Load the Custom ME-FW
Get this Custom ME-FW, extract it then load it in the tool:
Custom ME-FW Loaded:
Then proceed with [Create USB UEFI Flash Key]
Once done, reboot PC and proceed with flashing BIOS & ME.
3. Once done, go back to Windows and run the tool again and load again the same BIOS file: E7D25IMS.1M1
This time do not load the Custom ME-FW, just the BIOS file. (let the tool auto-detect and flash with own self-crafted and latest ME-FW version along with BIOS)
Then proceed with [Create USB UEFI Flash Key]
Once done, reboot PC and proceed with flashing BIOS & ME.
Then the transition from initial BIOS version with ME 16.0 to the latest BIOS version with latest ME-FW 16.1.xx.xxxx would be complete smoothly,
and enjoy your the updated system
( without any side effects/ without ME-FW corruptions / without ME-FW flashing issues and without BIOS data lost )
